everyone knew it was coming with sanchez in the backfield. they shoulda went with brad smith and gave him the run/throw option. smith is always out on coverage teams so it wouldn't have been obvious. My point was simple. the original poster gave the DB props for breaking up the pass when he didn't break it up and never touched the ball. it was just dropped by the jets WR
I don't play the IF game. i gave you guys credit for the win. I didn't even point out how the jets basically killed themselves all game. at the end of the day a win is a win. my only point was the original poster gave the DB props for breaking up the pass when he didn't break it up and never touched the ball. it was just dropped by the jets WR. Just saying you can't give props to a player for making a ply he never made lol

2:50.. i'm not sure how you say Davis had nothing to do with play, he is drapped on the WR, which probably helped with the drop its not like he's wide open and dropped it.. and while it 'looked" like first down distance, depending on spot and where tackled it was close
guess we shall agree to disagree- he is on his hip and someone like smith that has trouble catching balls and drops them when wide open and no one around, yes do think davis on his hip mattered, its why he's a returner not a WR for them. the ball is in his arms and davis arms around his back and stomache
It's over. Both teams did enough to shoot themselves in the foot. In the end, we are both in the playoffs so pass the dutchie to the left hand side.

Was reading MMQB by Peter King, and he actually made a point about just how difficult it is to kick out of bounds all the time. He talked to some of the greatest directional punters of all time and they all talked about just how perfect everything has to go to get the punt to land where you wanted it...I'm still not sure Ryan and their ST's coach necessarily wanted to punt to him; I'd be interested to see what they said if asked why they punted to him.
I was thinking about that too. Directional punting became a thing of the past when they developed the "ball point down" punt. there aren't many in the league that can do it at all. To assume that you can just ask the punter to kick it out of bounds and he will be able to do it everytime is absurd.
