2:50.. i'm not sure how you say Davis had nothing to do with play, he is drapped on the WR, which probably helped with the drop its not like he's wide open and dropped it.. and while it 'looked" like first down distance, depending on spot and where tackled it was close
i would correct you but somebody all ready did. see comment below lol

I said he had good coverage. he really did, but to say that he dropped it just because the defender was close is crazy. most drops are when players are wide open or when they know a defender is closing in for the hit.
Also smith has pretty good hands. 1st off you need good hands to catch kick offs, 2ndly he has made some good plays at WR when given the chance. he doesn't get more time there mostly because he plays 4 positions for us (KR/RB/QB/WR) and becuase he is the #4 WR on the team and we rarely run a 4WR set. but when we do he is the 4th WR on the field for us. He still isn't a complete WR by any means but he is fast, tall, athletic, and dangerous with the ball in his hands

thought smith's 4 whole catches for 44 yards for year not impressive or showing he can catch or made "good plays"..guess others also sw it as a good play.. Oh well
Bears Rashied Davis' Big Play Shut Down Jets Chicago Chronicle
Monday 27th December, 2010
(Source: CBS 2 Chicago) From Graesen Arnoff Bears wide receiver Rashied Davis joined Laurence Holmes to discuss his brilliant special teams play during the Bears 38-34 win over the New York Jets on Sunday. Davis knocked the ball away from Jets wide receiver Brad Smith, preventing a first down conversion and allowing the Bears to take over on downs.

Here is a more specific link to the interview w/ Rashied Davis regarding the play: (click audio link once there)

In the interview, he says he didn't touch the ball, but rather got Smith's arm with his right hand (he missed the ball w/ his left, which is the angle we could see on the TV).

so like i said he didn't break up the plan and also basically admitted to pass interference lol. anyway it was great coverage by the bears D and made it a tough throw that had to be perfect cause they read the play nicely. sanchez just made a perfect throw and smith dropped it.
also i know smith doesn't have alot of catches but its because he rarely sees the ball as a WR. we very rarely run 4 WR sets. as in almost never

Hey, I'm not into arguing this, just saying that.....as usual.....the TV doesn't always show everything about a play. PI or not, Davis' reaction, at least in his mind, had an effect on the play.
Regardless, one of the worst "surprise" calls I have ever seen executed. The beer vendor in the 400 section was screaming "FAKE" before the snap.
I will say it was a good game though. Laughable that everyone was billing this as a defensive battle. Heck the over/under was set at 36. That just happened to be the average score of both teams.

anytime your starting QB is on the field for a punt you know its a fake. it was obvious to everyone, and what the bears player says is irrelevant. whats he gonna say? "i got beat and the QB made a great throw, thank god he dropped it" lol seriously and yeah both defenses bent over and took it in the ass. I was really upset with the jets defensive showing. in the 3rd quarter cutler made us his bitch

Ok, so this obvious fake shouldn't have gotten Rex and Westhoff on the OP's list? Isn't that what is being debated here?
You pointed out that Smith dropped a pass (some say it was a good defensive play), either way, the call was pure bonehead by Westhoff AND Ryan. No reason to be upset. Lovie screws the pooch occasionally too.

I guess the thread's way off topic...so why not. If the fake works it could have changed the game...could have only because who knows for sure. Maybe Smith catches it, stopped short, but Davis get's flagged for PI. Point is the IF game will drive you crazy.
That said, it was a gutsy call and I think that bodes well for the Jets in the POs since it sometimes takes that to turn the game (Saints on-side vs Indy). Jets have shown gutsy play calling and ability to come back late in games which means they can never be counted out. I'm looking forward to seeing how they do post season especially if they can get a pass rush going.

all i said is you DB shouldn't get props for knocking the ball away from our WR on the 4th down fake because he never actually touched the ball. he just had good coverage, dive and missed the ball. If you want to give credit to rex and westhoff for the bad playcall then fine. Just saying your DB doesn't deserve any credit in that play being unsuccessful.

it was a gutsy call but we'll i don't agree with it , i still don't hate it. its obvious we didn't want to kick to hester. My only point was your DB didn't break up the play and therefore doesn't deserve props

The two guys that know for sure how it went down are Smith and Davis. If Rashid gets props good for him. Here's a guy who has been "relegated" to ST and was on the bubble to make the 53 after being in the rotation. He's played his heart out this year and accepted his role. His 15 minutes are almost over.
