bears/jets 'the little plays and players" props..
We all know the big plays and highlights that get talked about each week, thought would give some props to players and plays that don't get the attention but deserve some credit and props...
1. Greg olsen Fb- Yes, if watch forte's 22 yard td aagin, that is olsen as the FB, kicking out the block an dopening the hole for forte's Td run- we all get on Olson for not being tough at times, but he deserve's credit when he does block, and beeen doing a much better job recently
2. Brian Iwuh and ST- on the first Kick off to brian Smith , they seperated the "Sm" from "ITH", with one of the loudest hits of the year, he was never the same the rest of the game, including dropping a crucial pass later- don't think he ever recovered from that multiple hit
3. knox "mr. opportunity"- The play to be alert enough to catch the ball off olsens hands, was very good and shows in the game.
4. Rex Ryan and his ST coach- bad enough to try the fake Punt on the 40, but to try a fake punt, with Sanchez as the "up" guy, might as well have an announcement on the P.A. system you are faking it- lost any suprise or chance it would work- and still kudos to Rashied for blocking the lame throw
5. D. Manning- Starts game with 2 scrums and trying to fight the TE on jets after the first fumble- he's been criticized for being passive, but really coming into his own this year , been fundamentally much better and getting an 'edge and nastiness" really good to see.
6. Chris harris- After team got burned against New england ( though was wright not him), and burned against Vikes( that was on harris), on pump fakes to middle to freeze the FS, he doesn't bite late in game, after biting in 2nd quarter , to end the game on the INT-Nice to see him learn and use to advatange at end.
7. Dave Toub- really smart to move Manning and knox to the "up" positions on kickoff's when hester in back- this way on the squibbs still ahve very dangerous KR people to house the kick- think this strategy will pay off this week against the really pathetic ST play of the Packers, if they can't get downa 300+ lineman, can't wait to see what knox/manning will do on pooches. Watch this sunday

Rashied was/is also a good upman on the kicks, he has fielded a few admirably.

The Bears can clinch a first-round bye with an Eagles loss on Tuesday or by beating the Packers in Week 17.
There's an outside chance they could still capture the No. 1 seed and homefield throughout the NFC playoffs. For that, the Falcons would have to lose to the Panthers (2-13), the Saints would have to lose to the Buccaneers (9-6) and the Bears would have to beat the Packers and the Eagles would have to lose 1 of its final 2 games (Vikings or Cowboys).

AKA - No reason to waste time thinking about something that isn't realistic (us getting #1 seed when Falcons need to lose to the Panthers AND MORE for it to happen) We control our chances @ the #2 seed, that goal is the best goal right now

good film breakdown:
Film session: Cover-2 not to blame for Jets' passing success
the aftermath of the Bears allowing 34 points and 269 passing yards in their victory over the Jets on Sunday, many fingers were pointed at the Cover-2 defense.
It's true the Bears gave up some yardage playing Cover-2, including Mark Sanchez's 23-yard touchdown pass to Santonio Holmes. But the Bears played more safety up and Cover-1 than they have most of the season.
A review of the tape shows the Bears were playing something other than a true two-deep alignment on 54 percent of the Jets' snaps. They played a lot of single safety high, and the Jets completed many passes on slant routes against that alignment.
In the fourth quarter, the Bears used even less Cover-2 than the rest of the game, appearing to call for it on only six plays. One of the plays was Chris Harris' victory-sealing interception.
Offensive line
Grade: 9
This was clearly the line's best performance of the year. Both Jets sacks were the quarterback's fault, and otherwise the blockers kept Jay Cutler clean for most of the game.
Their task wasn't easy, either. The Jets tried 18 pass-rushing combinations, some of which the Bears undoubtedly had never seen. They rushed as many seven and as few as four. Sixteen Jets defenders rushed the passer at least once.
The last opponent to produce this much potential for confusion was the Seahawks, and the Bears allowed six sacks and 10 quarterback hits. That shows the improvement this line has made.
Rex Ryan tried using his father's old "Bear" or "46" front at times, and the Bears ran better against the loaded front than they did the previous time they saw so much of it against the Bills.
Right tackle J'Marcus Webb played physically and never appeared confused. The line communicated effectively on the field and the sideline.
The only thing to complain about was two false starts by left guard Chris Williams.

Webb's improvement has been much faster than I expected. This past week (and next sunday) was the true test of his comfort with the position, and I think he did admirably.

If we can get him for the right price I wholeheartedly agree with you on this! We could be losing A LOT of core special team players to unrestricted free agency this offseason.

FYI , while i think it was a bad decision to make at that point in the game, your D still didn't stop it. Sanchez made a perfect throw in good coverage and our WR just dropped it. Had he held on, the play would have worked

bears knew the while time it was coming.
And the Jets’ decision to fake punt in that situation — be it by Ryan or Westhoff or both — put too much importance on one play. Why risk it all when leading on the road? Moreover, the Jets didn’t just signal their intention, they may as well have unfurled a giant FAKE PUNT banner or put Sanchez in shiny rhinestones and Santonio Holmes in flashing neon.
‘‘Everybody knew it was a fake,’’ Davis said.
‘‘Everybody at home knew it was a fake, shoot.’’
It helps when it is that obvious,’’ Davis said.
‘‘You just have to diagnose and figure out what is happening and what they are trying to do to us. You follow your rules, and Dave Toub does a great job in giving us solid rules to go by.’’
Toub, the Bears special-teams coordinator, went back to last season and found tape of things the Jets and Westhoff were doing. Davis said the Bears study tape of their opponent from this season, but with Toub watching ‘‘triple or quadruple’’ the amount of tape his players do, they were prepared.
The Bears yelled “fake’’ before the attempt.
