If AZ could make it a couple years ago, anyone in the NFC can this year. I agree w/Butka though, whoever out of the west makes it, is the one that is most likely 1 and done. Don't think anyone in the NFC is as strong as the AFC power teams though, guess we will find out in a few short weeks.

New England is the only AFC power team that I think is dominant. The Jets, Pittburgh, and baltimore are all beatable.

Just finished saying to someone at lunch, that if the Bears win their first Playoff game, they will be in the Superbowl. So to me, I worry about "coming out flat" more than the opponents in the NFC. I think we can take any of them, especially w/ the momentum of a playoff win.
I'd also welcome a chance for a rematch w/ NE. I don't think we gave them our best, and I think they gave us their best. A little difference from each could have a very different result.
However, first things first. Clinch home field.

Nobody has really talked about how solid they have been in the second half of games. I'd be willing to guess that they are one of the, if not the best second half team in football.
My point is, no matter who we play, if we can keep the game close in the first half, we can beat anybody. We got our asses kicked in the first half of that pats game, but we held our own in the second half.
This team can be scary good if they don't shit the bed in the first half.

I would agree. So many games this year theyve looked like ass the first half, only to come back in the second half after making some adjustments and pulling out the win.

I think we have a high ceiling in terms of how this season can turn out, up to and including winning the Super Bowl. Right now, we're our own worst enemy. If we play well enough through the course of all the games coming up, we can be champs.

I used to think the Bears’ downfall would be Cutler’s proclivity toward making very bad decisions, but except for the occasional appearance of the quarterback who thinks he can will the ball between three defenders, he has been on his best behavior.
Ok.... these are the two areas that still concern me. But mostly, it's Lovie's Cover 2 stubbornness. We absolutely have to make adjustments to our Defensive scheme if we want to go deep into the playoffs. Our front four don't create enough CONSISTENT pressure for the Cover 2 to work in the playoffs.
But then again, I've been wrong about the 2010 Bears, also. But I still hope we make those adjustments.

We lead the league in least points allowed in the 2nd 1/2 so you are correct and now 5th in points scored in the 2nd 1/2..Which does indicate marinelli and martz and changing game plans after know what they are facing.. and esp on "D", will also say the rotation we do, is probably paying off also in that much fresher than most teams come the 4th quarter that have only their 11 starters still in

Its depends on who you play, last night a great example for the cover-2 working on vick again.. vikes play same scheme and vick again confused and should ahve thrown 4 INT's.. also works on bree's FWIW.. the scheme struggles more with people like a brady and the short passing game.. but a tam like Packers that want to go deep, aagain we can contain and make them do long drives and that results in penatlies and turnover's as saw in week 3.. The scheme is fine but like all schemes ahs holes, and need to on weeks playing a Qb or "O" designed to stop it, then need to change, but disagree strongly the scheme is out-dated or doesn't work, you see each week it still is effective, as saw last night

I'm with ya' on this one 100%. I also think that the first game will be the most difficult especially if it comes against the Packers. If we don't beat them on Sunday we may have to play them again in the playoffs and I hate the thought of Peppers and Co. having to chase Rogers around only to have him slip away and complete the pass. Their beatable, we already proved that but there always a tough win to get.
I'd love to see us matched up with Altlanta for the NFC Championship game. Of all the teams in the NFC they are who I think we match up best against. If we get the first win and then take on the Falcons I could definitely see the Bears getting to the show now that they've ironed out some offensive wrinkles.
