Cap stuff- Mannelly- $2.29 million 2 years , big toe-$6 million
But Mannelly couldn't bring himself to test the market, signing a two-year, $2.29 million extension with the Bears on Monday. The Bears also signed defensive tackle Matt Toeaina, who would have been a restricted free agent, to a three-year extension worth about $6 million. Toeania's deal includes roughly $2.7 million guaranteed if you count his base salary of $700,000 next season.
"(My wife and I) have been here for 13 years," said Mannelly, who received a $550,000 signing bonus and will be among the league's highest-paid at his position. "The Bears have been good to me. I don't know if I ever even want to leave Chicago in the future. It would have been hard to go out there and test the market knowing how much I enjoy playing for the Bears."

This is what expect going forward alot of these $6-$15 mill deals for d manning, adams, izzy etc..
Ciff stein prob already working on what's expected a $125 mill cap Number of CBA gets done, and because front loaded the peppers/taylor/manu/cutler deals, we will have room in 2011 and going forward to not only retain the players we want but can sign 1-2 big ticekt F/A's if decide that is the way to go.. As an FYI, here are the cap numbers for some of the big players:
2011-
Peppers- $900,000 salary( $10.5 mill roster bonus can convert to a SB if need cap space), 1.08 mill Amortized SB=$3.28 mill or $12.48 mill , depending on other players situation and cap room
Cutler-$8.1 mill salary +$1.4 mill amortized SB= $9.5 million cap space
Urlacher-$8.01 mill salary +$1.2 mill Sb= $9.21 mill cap space
Briggs-$3.65 mill salary + 750,000 SB= $4.4 mill cap space
hester- $1.585 mill salary+ $1.25 mill Sb= $2.835 mil cap space

here is a tid bit I got from another board for those doing mock offseasons to think about. Also anyone know if this is true?
------------------------------------
Depending on what happens with the new CBA, the final eight teams in the playoffs may be faced with this restriction on signing FA again next year:
The third trigger will have the biggest impact. This is the "Final Eight" rule; it will extend deeper restrictions for teams that reach the final eight positions in the playoffs.
The final four teams will not be permitted to negotiate or sign any unrestricted free agent to a player contract unless he is cut from his team or originally belonged to the team that is trying to sign (or re-sign) him.
The bottom four of the final eight have it a little easier. They will be allowed to sign only one player with a salary of $4,925,000 or more and any number of players with a first-year salary of no more than $3,275,000 with an annual increase of no more than 30 percent in the following year.
There will be an additional mechanism to permit the final eight teams to sign an unrestricted free agent for each of the players they lose to free agency so long as they don't spend more than the player they lost earns from his new team.

Fa's that need deals"
anthony Adams- worth a deal
dez clark- not signing

motown, those are the rules FOR THIS PAST YEAR, do not apply for next year( as will be a new CBA or no football, those rules specific to the old CBA contract)

Yep, and while have always grandfathered in the old deals to the new CBA Rules, even that isn't guaranteed, and technically could make them all do new deals, but doubt that happens.
what will be interesting is BOTh the 270+ rfa's( think only about 60 did deals) ANd if no deal by draft day, what happens? All say will be a rookie cap, but what if someone drafts a player and then signs before a new CBA?
i jsut checked in 1982 has the Strike, but did the draft as normal- so guess that happens again
