It's only a matter of time before the probowl game is gone. I bet it eventually becomes a skills competition or something without live contact.

I actually like what the NHL is doing with the All Star game.
Players get voted in, but then the two captain pick teams so it wont be East vs West.
I wish all All Star games did that, it would make things so much more fun.

Would this hurt your feelings? Frankly, I would get pissed in baseball if they ever got rid of the All-Star Game. I always like to see Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, Robinson Cano, and Mariano Rivera make the squad every year.

There is a difference between the Baseball all star game, and the football pro bowl. People actually try in the baseball all star game.

I dont know about that. The MLB is set up fine..right smack in the middle fo the season, winner determines WS homefield Advantage.
Problem with the NFL is that this is a full contact league, so players are hesitant to play a meaningless game for very little money at the end of a long season where they get banged up again.
I think the game itself has become meaningless. They should combine it with the college pro-day game and combine. Still acknowledge who is designated a "pro-bowler" but limit them to just appearances, autograph sessions, non-contact stuff like Claws suggested. But for the actual GAME, have it be the top college prospects going at it, that way you know the game will have SOME meaning for those playing, and they can also talk with the NFL pro-bowlers, get tips and advice about what to expect when they get drafted and wat not.

The Pro Bowl never meant much anyway. I mean, past the distinction of being labeled a "Pro Bowler" when you end your career and possibly an All-Pro, the Pro Bowl is just that: a meaningless exhibition. Even before baseball hinged who hosts the World Series based on the winner of the All-Star Game, there was as much pride involved as anything. Tell me that that is not the case when the National League won 11 consecutive All-Star Games from 1972-1982, the American League winning the game 11 of the previous 12 years prior to this season? It means something in a sport like baseball; it always has.
