Watch your mouth, bud. The only thing I was saying was that it's difficult to win three times in one season against the same team. There is still an outside chance that the Packers can get into the playoffs even with a loss Sunday against us. I'm not afraid of them; hell, I'm a New York Yankees fan - it's not a part of my vocabulary to be afraid of any opponent we play. I'm just saying that to avoid any conflict of interest, such as playing Green Bay a possible third time in the divisional round, we need to do our part and defeat them for a strategic purpose this weekend. I want our boys to head into the playoffs hungry this season, and the only way to secure that is to show no mercy toward any opponent.

The more I think about it the crazier I think most of you are...

So what if it's the Packers? I'd rather go into the playoffs without risking further injury than care if the Packers are the number 6 seed. They have their own problems. They have a crappy pass blocking line. Their front 7 on D isn't scary. Let them earn their way through. They'd at least be living up to the expectations the media have for them, for once.

Also, our offense is very different than when we first met. Assuming both teams make it into the NFC Championship, I'd rather not tip our hand right now.

And why is everyone so concerned about the Packers and not the Giants? Last I checked the Giants D line was tea bagging Cutler all night long when we faced them. Granted, it was early in the season too. Their D-line is just flat out better, and our O line still isn't great.

Sorry to all the Grabowskis out there, but I say screw the rivalry. I'd rather be cautious and healthier heading into the playoffs than worry about this game if it has no bearing on our playoff seed. If I'm coaching this team, I'm starting to pull select players in the 3rd quarter, no matter if we're winning or losing. I'd rather be as nicely set up for a playoff run as possible than knock the Packers out of it all.

Not worried @ all. To me I want the Packers to miss the playoffs because I like seeing them fail. I don't fear them one bit. If they do make the playoffs I have no worries we could beat them then, but I want them to miss the playoffs because A- The Bears would sweep the Packers & the division & B- The Packers would be 9-7 & miss the postseason, which is always great

Packers 2 10 win teams in the last 6 years with 51 Total Wins v Bears 3 10 Win teams in the last 6 years with 58 total wins

I love seeing the Packers have less succees

As I've said in other threads, I don't believe in backing down to anybody. I believe that you put your best foot forward in every game and at least make an attempt to win the ballgame. Anyone who doesn't is lacking a competitive edge...no offense.

There is no possible way we will face the Packers in the divisional round. And telling me you are a Yankees fan is not winning you any points.

Why, because we have 27 World Championships (all since 1923), while the Cubs haven't won a championship since 1908? LOL, I love how people are jealous of success! I bet you top dolla' that if you could have it your way, the Bears would have more championships than any team in NFL history. What, then, would you say to my being a Yankees fan when you would be in the very same boat with the most successful franchise in NFL history? Everybody wants to be number one, but nobody likes it when there is that one stand out team that dominates its sport year-after-year because they do "the little things" it takes to win.

And yes, I agree that the Packers will probably not make it to the divisional round. They're going to have to play Philadelphia if they even get in, and I happen to think that the Vikings loss to the Eagles was just a fluke.

I think that's BS.... no offense.

You have your players put in a full effort while they're in the game. As I've said before, if you're the coach, you give them no indication of that plan. You make them assume they're playing a full game. There's no competitive edge lost. These guys are in the NFL, they're not going to forget to how to compete or forget how to finish games by doing that. I think people are getting a little too rah rah over this personally. Case in point, you're calling it 'backing down'. Resting key players in a game that gains us little is nothing of the sort.

I'd like to see what competitive edge this defense has if one our key players suffered an injury in a game that had minimal meaning.

Most teams don't back out of a contest at the end of the season simply to preserve players. We need to keep good continuity going for at least three and a half quarters, and see if we're at least holding our own against the Packers. If we're up by enough, then I'd turn the ball over the Caleb Hanie and let him finish out the game. But to suggest that we just not start anybody and simply let Green Bay destroy us on Sunday is preposterous.
