Forte would have carried alot more.....
Forte would have carried alot more if the situation was different. He average over 6 a carry in this game and GB couldn't stop the run. When you already have a bye locked up a playoff game coming, there is no way he was going to carry 30 times this game. I think if the situation was different he would have had alot more carried, everytime they ran outside he got 5 yards or more.

GB is #18 against the run but #2 for scoring D. Philly will be able to run the ball on that 3-4 and both Vick and McCoy will have no trouble. GB will not be able to contain and the Eagles will attack the edges all day. Only us, Giants and Vikings played good containment on them...all 4-3 with "real" linebackers (per Lance Briggs!) who could keep eyes in the backfield. Granted, Vick played like crap against the Vikings, but MN got pressure from the front 4 all day. Capers is going to blitz, and they will play man downfield and that will open it up for McCoy and Vick on the ground. IMHO.

So, you think that the game plan was intentional?

No but I think going in they knew for sure there is no way Forte was carrying the ball 30 times under any circumstance in this game. Not worth it, he needs to be 100% for the playoffs, the entire offense rides on him running and receiving.

If this were the case then why play him at all? What is the point of playing the starters if we were not going to try to win the game and eliminate out biggest rival from making the playoffs? Is it more logical to put the ball in Jays hand and let the packers sack the shit out of him?

You know, that’s something I’ve been wondering…I know there is plenty of tape already on us for any opponent to review, but why give them more of our true game plan during a meaningless game…I don’t know, maybe it’s just wishing thinking on my part, but if I was OC am not sure I would be running my “A game” in a meaningless game, just so someone can use that info against me later in the playoffs when it matters…maybe it makes teams wonder if Martz has known pass happy again, when in reality (hopefully) he has not…maybe it’s a very tiny advantage, but you got to take every advantage you can…

This theory assumes that opposing coaches will ignore all the post bye week games in favor of the last one played. Maybe the coaching staff believes that will work, but I don't. That is now 3 people I have seen today making that assertion. I just can't convince myself that it's a realistic possibility. My heart says maybe, my head says never.

Amen brother, amen!!!!!!! Let's face it Martz concoted a shitty game plan and called a shitty game but ....... if anybody puts forth the idea that we should have been saving Forte's legs and keeping him from injury in lieu of letting the Packers put Cutler on his ass for most of the game they should lay down that crack pipe immediately and answer me this. Who's more valuable to the offense, Forte or Cutler? Yeah, I thought so!

Nope, I don’t think that opposing coaches will ignore anything…which is the point of this theory…as much as they may want to ignore the GB game, they can’t, not completely…they have to analysis it even though they know it very well might be a waste of time…once again, I don’t think this gives the Bears any major advantage, it just more of a minor mind game…anytime you can make an opposing team second guess, waste their time, or generally confuse them, even in a small way, its time well spent imo….we had nothing to prove or gain by the GB game, might as well use as a little subterfuge…if I was OC, in a game like this, I would think, “OK, what would I normally do in a situation like this?” Then I’d do something else…

They will study each and every game to come up with gameplans...games we won, games we lost, all of em. And looking over all of our games, only a few things are consistently true: we have a very dangerous special teams and returner, julius peppers still needs to be accounted for on every play, Cutler can be dangerous both in the pocket and outside of it, and our OL sucks. OUtside of that, anything else is a wild guess..we've had shootouts, weve had low scoring affairs, weve had teams dominate us, weve had a bunch of close calls, games the offense was dominant but defense was sloppy, and games the defense was on point but our offense was sloppy.
