And personally like that- this way players aren't screwed for so long , just because a later picked forced to not earn a lot for 5 years, where players drafted at top make undeserved millions. 3 years a good idea of a players value and draft status will not matter, a player like a briggs or the texan Rb can get the money deserve quicker, and top round busts off the books quicker and team can move on quicker, a win/win for both sides. Its Still a Zero sum game, but allows teasm to reward players FOR PERFORMACNE ON FIELD, not for draft status or rep
I think that a rookie cap and 4 years before unrestricted F/A would be reasonable compromise. The agents won't like it but screw them. They're a major part of the reason that rookies $$$ deals have soared into the stratosphere along with ticket prices. If you shorten it too much you make it much harder to amortize the signing bonus paid to your top round choices. I agree with you in that you should have a pretty good idea of a guys value to the team after 3 years but I also think that if you spend 3 years developing a guy into a top notch contributor you should have at least one season in hand to negotiate a contract extension when one is called for.

Both sides need to look at the practicality involved with allowing the cap and therefore salaries rise too far. Many fans already resent the costs involved with purchasing seat licenses and season tickets and then watching their team put an inferior product on the field. The NFL has favorable support now but it may not always stay that way now that there's television access to virtually any game via cable or satellite networks.

This very funny nerrad. One of your best posts ever. I however, won't retract the bad things that I've said to you until you stop spinning your opinions like a top and cut down on the negativity. No one minds well directed criticism but some of your posts are just downright ridiculous especially when you flame a player whom you previously were in love with.

Agree 100% about the agents Soul- IMO they had upshaw in their pocket, and why he fought so hard to not have a rookie cap

And because of the rookie cap, the Signing bonuses will be alot less so be it 3 or 4 years the unamortized amounts will be small- and no need to worry about what happens now with 15-20 mill SB- but a good point about having year to work out a deal, 4 years is fine with me also.

We will get a TON of bluster and nonsense from both sides for the next few months, but can't imiagine the millions and billions at the end of the day don't win out
