2010 NFL playoff design and trophy changes

First off is the ubiquitous "NFL Playoffs" design itself. The red box and font we have grown accustomed to, is now replaced with these funky futuristic silver football design. Which of course brings us to the trophies themselves:

The classic Lamar Hunt and George Halas trophies which have been in use for decades are also replaced, with silver footballs. Vince lombardi trophy remains unchanged.

The SB XLV logo itself is also using the "new" font the NFL has seemed to adopt now for everything, and every SB from here on out will simply display a similar logo to this one, with the Stadium of the host city that year in the background. So all the UNIQUE SB logos weve come to expect will no longer be used, every SB design is going to look the same as the next years.
Also, if you noticed in the first picture, there are new NFC and AFC logos:

The classic AFC logo had 6 stars for the founding 6 teams of the AFL, and the NFC had 3 to represent the first 3 divisions (East, Central, West).
Now, both are replaced with the New Font, as well as 4 stars each to represent the 4 divisions in each conference, a bit redundant since the new NFL logo already does that:

How much money do you think they wasted on this nonsense? The fact that the conference championship trophy's were unique in their own right and not just a smaller facsimile of the super-bowl trophy was a good idea. The change in the conference logos is also pretty ridiculous too. I mean, who the hell ever looks at them close enough to care. If you hadn't ever told anyone about the change it might never have even been noticed.
The owners and the league can't come to a consensus on a new CBA so a lockout looms just a little down the road from now yet they've got the time and money to mess around with this. Idiots!!!!! If ain't broke don't try to fix it.

Usually this kind of thing happens when some Senior Executive makes an innocuous statement like, "When's the last time Marketing looked into updating our logo?" in a staff meeting. He/she doesn't really want a new logo, but simply thought out loud. However, the comment causes a flurry of work since everyone thinks they heard an implied directive. When the new logo, etc. is presented the boss, of course, now thinks it's a great idea (since he/she was reminded they thought of it!). It gets implemented but nobody really know why or if it was even necessary.

Lol, im sure they spent a pretty penny "researching" the changes, and they hired Tiffany to design/make the new AFC/NFC championship trophies, so THAT didnt come cheap.
I mean heck, alot of people still dont realize that the NFL logo itself was changed couple years ago. Im more upset with the new SB design, and the fact that it will become "Standard" from here on out. I actually enjoyed the fact each year had a unique design.
Oh, and Nike replaces reebok as the Jersey provider in 2012, and have promised "drastic changes" to uniforms...and looking at nikes college ensembles, we can all fear how crazy these changes will be.

Oh good Christ if some team starts wearing uni's like those atrocities that Oregon wore last season I'll be laughing my ass off at just how dumb they look. Maybe they can give the Bengals and Browns a new look but they better not mess around with the Bears uni's. The Old School Look is just fine with me.

They claimed those were fake, but now people are saying they were real, and nike "leaked" them to gage public opinion on them, which has needless to say, been overwhelmingly negative

Well thankfully, the NFL and teams have final say on uniform designs/changes, so i doubt anything THAT radical will happen. But then again, its all about money and jersey sales...so you never know.

Teams would love a new jersey design. Especially a radical one.
This logic goes hand in hand with ball players who change numbers. A new number means a new jersey that player's fans will want to buy. More money for the player and the team.
If the jersey changes, fans will "have" to buy a new jersey for their favorite player(s). More money for the players, more money for the teams.
F'n greedy whores.
