Nice stat on Forte
Few NFL players are performing at a higher level entering the playoffs than Matt Forte. In his final six regular season games, the Bears running back rushed for 502 yards while averaging 5.8 yards per carry.
“I don’t know if there’s a back playing any better than he is right now,” offensive coordinator Mike Martz said Wednesday. “He’s really going. He’s always been really good, been very impressive. But about five weeks ago, something happened. Maybe it was six weeks ago. But he just all of a sudden took it over.”
Forte topped 1,000 yards for the second time in three NFL seasons this year, rushing for 1,069 yards and six touchdowns on 237 carries. His average of 4.5 yards per attempt was the best by a Bears running back with at least 200 carries since Neal Anderson averaged 4.7 yards in 1989.
Forte became only the second player in franchise history to compile more than 1,000 yards rushing and 500 yards receiving, joining Hall of Famer Walter Payton. The 2008 first-round pick from Tulane also became the first Bears player to amass at least 1,600 yards from scrimmage in his first three seasons.

Maybe I'm reading something wrong, but he wasn't the first back to amass 1600 yds from scrimmage in a year in his first three years. WP had 2121 yards from scrimmage in his third season.

I actually made a statement towards the end of Forte's rookie season... and yes... I kept it mainly to myself cause it was his rookie year, and it was a pretty balsy statement. . .
Even though he is considered a more gifted athlete all around by a large margin... I think Forte is gonna have a better Career than Adrian Peterson.
Not saying he's the better back, just I honestly believe Forte will have a longer, better career. (you should have heard the responses, it was like I just told an entire trailer park they don't make RC cola anymore) LOL.

I can list about a half dozen players doing better than Matt Forte over the last month and half. Second Forte was a second round draft pick, not a first. We drafted broken back Williams with out top pick. Now if we had a real OL I would say Forte would have broken probably 1300-1500 yards.

So Mike, if he's the hottest back going right now why in the hell did you stop calling his number last Sunday against the Packers? You're fabled offensive genius looked pretty idiotic to me. The playoffs are coming and you're beginning to worry me son.

God, I just had a memory, but it's fuzzy....
What year was it, there were two teams that knew going into week 17 (game 16) that they we're going to be playing each other in the first wild card round of the playoffs. game 16, one team went hard, the other a bit vanilla (I wanna say the cards and someone else)
and I think it was the Cards who went a bit Vanilla, and had everyone going? wtf... then came out and lit em up in the playoffs...
can someone clear the hops and resin off this memory I'm trying to remember, and tell me I'm not just imagining this?

I don't doubt that Matt Forte has played as well as any RB during the last fourth of the season. What's funny is that people still say that he has a lot to prove. To me, he's proven everything he's worth, and then some, because I think he's really going to open up next year and have a splendid season. If we get offensive linemen in the offseason who are worth their weight in gold, if we can run block up the middle better than we did this season, and if Cutler has more time to pass, I think next year's offense can be something special. Cutler and Forte will lead the way, no doubt.
