Urlacher named NFC defensive player of month
Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher was named NFC defensive player on the month on Thursday.
Urlacher led the NFC with 49 tackles in December -- he had 17 in the loss to the Patriots and 11 in the win over the Lions-- and also had 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble as the Bears won the NFC North and secured a first-round bye in the playoffs.
Julius Peppers received the same honor in November. He had four sacks in November, tied for second-most in the NFL. His 29 yards in sack losses led the NFC and tied for fourth in the NFL. Peppers also had 13 tackles, deflected a pass that led to an interception and recorded two additional tackles for losses during the month.

Yep, he's really had a great year and glad to see some national Prop's for it- this along with the probowl, should put away the silliness about his value or game for at least a year

As long as you have a keyboard, silliness will never go away.

LOL, he SHOULD be the defensive player of the month instead. Without him, the Packers wouldn't be in the playoffs.

Peyton had a stretch where he was the interception machine.

And well deserved I'd say. When was the last time, if ever, that two Bears players got prize in consecutive months? All looks well on the defensive side of the ball goind into the playoffs. I don't think we've seen the best they have to offer yet.

Urlacher is a monster. I don't know if he's going to be an All-Pro MLB this season or not because of that Patrick Willis guy out in San Francisco, but he's made his seventh Pro-Bowl in 10 active seasons (not counting his IR 2009 season), and he's hit a second wind that I hope will take him another few years toward being a powerhouse player like the Urlacher of yesteryear. I think Julius Peppers has been a great addition, too, and has certainly helped with the Bears' pass rush.
On that note, I will say a prayer online: God, I hope that we get a shot at playing the Seahawks again. Boy, I'm smartin' after that loss to them earlier this year. But, I will be just as satisfied if it turns out that we play either the Saints or the Eagles. I'd like to deal the Saints another loss, and have Julius Peppers lay the smack down on Vick again.
