We're getting better value for our money, with better statistics to boot. And I recall that Izzy has been moved all over the line throughout his career.

I'd take A Brown and Peppers on the End over Peppers and Manderson...oh wait he sucked here you go Izzy. I have no doubt A Brown puts up similar to better numbers then Izzy did; and probably beats out manderson to start the year to boot.

AB couldn't rush the QB here, can't rush it in N.O. either. Same ol' AB.

It's been a fantastic year for Izzy, glad he finally got his shot. Other then JP he's the best DE the Bears have had in quite a long time.

Sounds to me that you judge AB on sacks alone. Peppers had a bad year only netting 8 sacks this year. I guess JA over paid this guy.

Interesting b/c AB had 6 sacks last year and 32 tackles; year before 6 sacks and 42 tackles, And that's w/out Peppers....Izzy w/Peppers had 8 sacks and 49 tackles. Anyone here really willing to say that Peppers has not helped get at least 3-4 sacks and a 6-10 tackles for Izzy? And Izzy is not the leader that AB was for this team either.
A Brown does much more for this team if he has Pepp on the other side of him then Izzy does. And exactly what DL from NO is really helping AB the way Peppers is helping the rest of our OL?

I'll gladly take 8 sacks every year from him from here on out.

So you would take only 8 sacks from peppers from here on out while paying him 16 million per year vs paying Alex brown 5-6 million per year for only getting 6 sacks?

Izzy is playing good and plays the run well too, but he's nothing special. Remember Mark Anderson's rookie year he got a heap of sacks because of the defense playing fantastic as a group and Tommie Harris absolutely dominating.
Izzy is benefiting from a similar situation with Peppers now, and the rest of the defense playing at a high level too.
One thing about Brown he was great against the run. And to put up 6 sacks last season is a good effort considering how bad the rest of the defense was.
I think if he were in Izzy's position this season maybe he may have gotten more sacks but at the end of the day sometimes you have to let players walk for cap reasons. I think Izzy isn't a big drop-off from Brown in terms of pass rushing, Brown played the outside runs better than him too, but Izzy is better in terms of taking on blockers and stuffing runs.
The fact Brown has only gotten 2 sacks this season doesn't help the argument that they should have kept him. He's not an outstanding player and you can get similar production from guys on minimum salary.
-----
In addition to all that, Corey Wooton and Melton look to be developing well so there isn't really a lotta room for more DEs.
----
And the argument that Brown got 6 sacks and is only 6 mil while Peppers got 8 and is 15mil or whatever is ridiculous. Peppers obviously does more than put up stats, requiring double teams etc.
You can also add Peppers 2 INTs to his stat sheet which are as good as sacks, 1 of them which he tipped and caught himself.
