I don't see any excuses being offered, in fact, those quotes are the Seahawks about the difference Briggs makes. The fact is, that we lost that game by 3 points, in a game where a Bears TD was called back for a bogus penalty. That would be an excuse, but I do not see any mention of it.
Briggs adds as much to this D as having Urlacher back this year made.
I like the Bears D fired up to stop the Seahawks all day. Absent any offensive turnovers by the Bears, I say this is a blow out. 24-3 or less.
This game is going to be a whole different animal. Lynch won't break another run like last game and Briggs will certainly help. Seattle already celebrated like it was the SB.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.
True, i just dont like to see excuses like that for lost games. Takes a team to win, and a team to lose.
where did you see an excuse? or saying we lost because of no briggs?
i jsut see saying briggs 'can' be a difference maker and agree with that.. we lost because martz in the 70/30 mode and went 0-12 on third downs, and manning returned the winning td but got called back on a ref call, that si why lost.. not an excuse,, but do think bruggs can "help" and if we are 50/50 sunday and not going 0-12 on third downs we do win
It's great that we have a healthy team going into this game. Marshawn Lynch tore up the Saints and having our LB core healthy and intact should go a long way towards making less effective than he was last week. If we can bottle him up and get pressure and sacks out of the Dline we should win this game and Briggs will be a big part of that no doubt.
I'd have to agree, the Bears would miss Briggs as much or more than Urlacher as it relates to the running game.
"He's huge,'' Hasselbeck said when asked about Briggs' impact on the Bears' defense. "I think he's arguably one of the best defensive players in the game. I think he's a great player. Going into that (Oct. 17) game, we fully expected him to play. He didn't play and that was a big deal. For us to sit back and say, 'Oh, hey we beat them at their place, we can do it again,' that would be a dangerous way to feel because Lance Briggs did not play in that game. He is a big, big time difference maker and a great football player. So as hard as this game is going to be, the fact that he's back up takes it to a whole another level.''
A team is obviously never as good as it can be when some of the pieces to the puzzle aren't available. I don't know if we would have given up fewer points to the Seahawks in that first match up or not, seeing as how Iwuh had a good game. Briggs might have created a turnover or two, which is entirely possible.
