Listening to Dez Clark's show
Listening to Clark's show today. It's live right now at www.voiceamericasports.com
He's going to be talking about his future with the Bears, etc.
He already answered a few questions about him being benched and what not... At one point he said that he's being used as the scout team, but he'll be the best scout tight end in the league.
I love how hard he works, but he somehow found himself in the doghouse with Lovie Smith and Mike Martz... such a shame.

I've always been a big Desmond Clark fan...it's a damn shame his role was reduced this year in favor of Manumaleuna.

I do wish that Desmond Clark would reveal the reason why he was benched. It seems to me that his injury to his back in the past year or two may have had something to do with it. Let's face it, though: he's been in the league since 1999, and Father Time may well have snuck up on him but good.

Tru dat, but even so...could he really have been any worse than Manumaleuna?

That depends on the extent of his injuries.

From what he said on the radio he has no plans to retire and that he has plenty left in the tank to go. I think it's Martz and Lovie doing this.

hang on... before we drafter G.O. everyone said we needed a tight end despite having D.Clark.
I remeber the absolute CRAP he took for not being good enough, that we needed better....
now with the typical bear flip flip everyone's on the "why isn't Des Clark starting?"...
and all I can think of is "you mean the same des clark everyone said was mediocre at best and that we need to draft a new tight end, Desmond Clark"?...
and sure enough... the one in the same
I think it should be clark and Olsen and Manumaleworthless (love that one whoever came up with it) should be sent packing.

for the record Grizz, I never wanted Olsen. was totally content with Dez. I still feel that from the time he came here, up until we drafted Matt Forte, he was hands down our most consistent and reliable offensive player. BUt, I would keep Olsen now, send the pineapple packing for sure though

This board has often underestimated Des Clark's talent as a complete TE. The guy came out of college as an oversized WR and he was just getting the hang of being a blocking TE in additon to his receiving skills when he arrived in Chicago. The Broncos drafted the guy late in hopes that he we be the replacement for Shannon Sharpe and when he was with Denver his pass catching talents were obvious.
I was thrilled when the Bears signed him. He's been a great clutch performer over the years. No one has worked harder than Des to improve himself since he got here and he's certainly the best all around TE we've had since Emery Moorhead. Whatever the reason, unless it's injury (which I doubt), it's a crime that he's sitting every week while Manumaleuna plays. He and Olsen made a very effective TE team last season.

The only reason I can feature Lovie Smith sitting Desmond Clark is because of injuries that have mounted over the past couple of years. If you remember, he barely made the team coming out of training camp.
