Urlacher: Bears can make perennial playoff runs

Could this be Brian Urlacher's last realistic chance to win a Super Bowl ring?
"No, not at all," the Bears' veteran linebacker said Thursday at Halas Hall. "I think if we get a couple of guys back, we're still set up for a while, if you look at our team depth-wise.
"We get Olin (Kreutz) back and a couple of other guys. We have Jay (Cutler) and Pep (Julius Peppers) signed up for a while. I think we will be set up to be good if we go out there and prove it for a while. Doing it is another thing, but talent-wise we're going to be good for a while."
Urlacher, 32, has been to the Super Bow doorstep, losing to the Colts four years ago. Sunday's playoff game against Seattle represents the first obstacle to returning to the NFC Championship Game and the Super Bowl in Dallas.
"I want to get to the playoffs every year, I don't think this year is any different," said Urlacher, an 11-year veteran. "Knowing how talented we are just coming into the season, there is no reason we shouldn't be in the playoffs. We knew we were going to be good, just go out there and prove it to everybody. It's fun to be in the playoffs. Watching the games last weekend was fun because you know we are going to play this weekend ... just a different feel."

if we string a few good drafts in a row together we really could. If we hit once every 5 years prob not. I am interested in this draft more so in the past to see what direction our new scouting department takes us in. The guy with the overall decision is still JA but he will be operating with all new personel.

if we just get cutler a line and a real wr, we will have a chance at the playoffs each year even with a lesser defense.

Yes, I'm excited we have a full draft but I'm suspect of Ruskell.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.
Restore the roar!

it is still interesting to see what direction we go in. We know with JA what we will get. Like will their be a new oline philosophy of drafting? Will we see some proper attention to skill position on offense? Will there be a DT taken every year to put on the practice squad? Stuff like that

I, for one, hope that there is a new direction taken on the offensive side of the football. We have the defensive part dicked; JA can flat out bleed defensive talent out of a turnip. Hopefully, Ruskell is the answer to our needs on offense, and especially the offensive line.

I think that's a good point mo. What the Bears really need is a couple of years of success with our top 3 picks so that we can reload the Oline and pick up guys to replace some of the aging backbone of the defense. We've got quite a few guys who are 30 and one key player (Urlacher) over 30. I don't expect these guys to drop in their talent levels or desire to win any time soon but serious injuries have to be called in to question as they age. One really bad one and their career may be over.
