what did cutler do to the media to get such a bad rep from them? Im glad he is keeping his head and not letting this crap get to him.

I have been amazed at the media representing Jay this way. The truth is, this guy has been a GREAT teammate. He has NEVER thrown his OLINE under the bus, even after the Giant game. He has ALWAYS upheld the team, ALWAYS practiced, watched film, been at practice and worked with the team. ALWAYS uplifted the WR's, even when they hung him out to dry on pass routes.
Zach Zaidman even said that he was NOT liked in the locker room yesterday on ESPN 1000, can't remember if it was Waddle and Silvie or the Saloon that he was on at the time.
Url, Briggs, Martz, Lovie EVERYONE has had Jay's back, nothing has come out that he is not popular on this team. It is truly dizzying to watch the media villainize this guy for leaving Denver and the Boy BLUNDER coach they had there.
Too much. JAY, you are the Bears QB. Go out this weekend and play YOUR game. Play to win and bring the trophy's BACK to Chicago where they belong.

Its the "media game"...and double standards
As legere said , reiley is "insulted" he came to chicago, and cutler didn't give him 3 hours of undivided attention and kiss his butt and "bare his soul" to him for a 'great reiley article".. So therefore he's a jerk and needs to be ripped in paper for stuff like hedidn't idolize a qb growing up or not giving a suntimes reporter a Quote for his charity work..
BUT really awful people like ted washington, or mike Vick or convicted people like lewis or stallworth.. because WILL GIVE reiley 3 hours and answer his questons 'good people that need to be praised"..
I'm glad at least SOMEONE in the media had the balls to call another writer on this hypocrisy..
if cutler by all acounts a real good person off the field, gives to charity, faithful to his girlfriend and only "blackmark" is doesn't like the media, we should all be VERY HAPPY

It's far more noble to do good deeds in secret. Screw them, they don't want to write anything positive so they write crap.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.
Restore the roar!

I thought a comment left on ONE of those comments was very telling: He was complaining of Cutler being a jerk because he wouldn't stop in the middle of a grocery store to take a picture with him. Why should he? He stops for one guy, then another guy then another, etc. People should just let dude live his life without hovering over him. Now, I know Walter Payton NEVER said no to an autograph, but that dude was uncomparable in terms of niceity.

There are tons of pro athletes that are jerks; now that I think about it, it's probably the same % as every other profession, just these guys get put in the spotlight more. I'm not worried about him being a jerk, as long as he's not getting arrested or anything on that level I could care less.
That being said, I would not be suprised if he is a jerk, he looks like one, on the sidelines and in interviews...but again I don't really care. Play well and win and it doesn't matter.

Yes, yes, and yes. I am so over the media's continued nastiness toward and about Jay Cutler, a guy who understandably dislikes talking to the media, while trumpeting the praises of murderers of all kinds like Ray Lewis and Michael Vick, attention whores who are willing to sit and talk about themselves all day long. DISGUSTING.

We love this.

but this reily guy isnt the only one. You got clowns like Dilfer who act like Cutler is what is wrong in this league. And the list can go on and on. It is like noone is happy Bears finally have a qb lol. They are trying to find any reason to hate this guy. I think this is probably the most positive article I have ever read on Cutler despite never seeing a situation to hate on the guy. Are people that pissed he wanted out of Denver?(even after most of their players wanted out)

Rick Reilly is foolish. I hate bringing him up in the same light, but Brett Favre went to see a youngster who is dying in Green Bay earlier this Winter and didn't want media attention, but apparently the kid's parents called in the media and made a big production of it. Maybe Favre is a jerk and maybe he isn't, but I have no problem with a player being altruistic toward those who are less fortunate and not wanting attention for doing so.
