Hey Jetsfan, can you imagine the sheer number of people who will be watching the Super Bowl should the Bears and Jets wind up playing? Those are the two largest markets in the NFL right there. It would be kind of like seeing a Yankees/Dodgers World Series, where the two largest markets in baseball are both tuned into their TV sets.

You do realize that the Superbowl transcends any market, and it really doesnt matter WHO is playing, everyone and their grandma will be watching the game.

This I know, but in the years where bigger markets are involved (like in Super Bowl XX and XLI because of Chicago), there were record numbers of viewers.

If youre going by that Metric, then last year's SB viewership broke the long standing record held by Mash, with 106M viewers, beating out XLI (93m), XLII (98m) XLIII (95m). And SB XLIV was two low-pop cities with bandwagon fans to the extreme: Colts and Saints.
