Besides, it'll be easier to just tear up the field & replace it than to try and clean up all the packer blood about to be spilled.
I can just see the specter of Matt Forte running up and down the field off-tackle and catching passes out of the backfield right now. The thought of this is sweet.

Olsen's right, "it is what it is" and both teams are under the same disadvantage when they play there. I don't necessarily agree with how the field is maintained but at this point in time just buckle up and play for cripes sake. Maybe the Bears and the Park District will finally get smart and replace the damn sod with field turf before next year but I wouldn't count on it. You know it's really a shame that a great team with a great history has to play in a nice new stadium on top of a shitty field like that.

Good for Olsen, just sucking it up. This is football and that's how it should be. However, it's not just your opponents whining about the field, remember this:

"The footing at Soldier Field has been horrible," linebacker Brian Urlacher said.
A lot of people say the field is bad, even Bears do. Jennings goes on to say:
"But you can't you can't allow that to affect the way you play. The grass, the surface, how hard it is, how soft it is, what have you, it really it plays only so much into the game if you allow it to."
“I think he did [tarnish his legacy]. Not only this season, but the last few seasons, going back and forth [on retirement] and bouncing to a few different teams. I think about it, and I have to really think hard to think back to when he was a Green Bay Packer and when he played his best football and was in Super Bowls and when he became the Brett Favre we all know."

In Chicago, the parks district owns the field, and therein lies the problem.

They also said they're NOT resodding the field for this game...

I always thought resodding the field was a stupid idea. Even in the summer it takes months for sod to take roots. I gate when the resod after an event and the field just rolls up under peoples feet. In the winter there is no way the sod will be anything more than a hazard.

I know everyone knows about it. The Bears do get a slight advantage by playing on it more than other teams.
Don't worry, if we lose, I won't stoop to levels where I'd use that as an excuse, but you can't deny that it's true.
