Peter King's Sports Illustrated Defensive player of the year
Peter King, eh? I'm surprised a Patriot didn't win it.
Nice spiff for Peppers but both have had a tremendous influence on the success of their respective teams.

The Bears' defense earned accolades Tuesday from SI.com's Peter King, with the revered NFL scribe anointing Julius Peppers his Defensive Player of the Year over celebrated Packers linebacker Clay Matthews.
Even more surprising, King named the Bears' Chris Harris an All-Pro safety, along with the Steelers' renowned Troy Polamalu.
"I think it is a tremendous honor," Harris told the Tribune.
Regarding Peppers, King admitted to being a longtime critic of the former Panthers star and having predicted that the Bears would regret giving him a big-money free-agent contract. King calls Peppers "the John Stockton of the Bears defense, the guy who makes everyone around him better."
As for Harris, who is expected to play Sunday against the Packers over suffering a hip injury vs. the Seahawks, King writes, "The Bear-turned-Panther-turned-Bear again is a strong open-field tackler and had big picks against the Eagles and Vikes."

Matthews had 6 sacks in the first 2 weeks ..... since then, 7.5 over 14 weeks. Everyone talked about him breaking the sack record in week 3, but since then he's fallen to #4 in sacks and everyone is voting him DPOY based on the first 2 weeks.
man, this is the week peppers needs to record sacks. now before people blow up on me, im the biggest peppers defender with the idiots. just saying id like to see him and izzy putting rodgers head into the turf all game.
Congrats to him. I have a lot of respect for the guy. I wasn't pleased when the Bears signed him. He's going to be giving our offensive line fits for years.
BTW, Clay has been battling a hamstring injury since week 2. I'm not saying that's the reason for his drop off in production, but it certainly didn't help.
I think Eli Manning had a better year than Peppers did. 25 ints and 5 lost fumbles is an impressive stat. I wonder why the media didn't ride his ass all year like they did jay last year?
2 things, he has a ring and he is a Manning.
