From what I've heard, Lovie was hired with the specific priority of beating the Packers. If he fails to do so in the NFCCG with the team the Bears have now, I just don't see him coming back.
well you heard wrong.. no Coach is gired to only bea one team and a 2-14 rcord would get all 32 coaches fired pretty quickly. Lovie was smart to use the "bear packers " line when hired, but that isn't the reason hired

Think he meant Superbowl.. but while loved that 2001 season and all the freak things that happened and last second wins, it wasn't a real good team, though a real fun season

He will be back either way, he has one year left where the bears will be paying him 5.5 million so bringing in a new HC would be stupid. I just think this contract talk is stupid and it should only be addressed in the off season and not during the playoffs.

As much as I dislike Lovie's style I have to acknowledge just how much the team likes him as a coach and that's the most important thing in this whole situation. The core is built around the guys we have now and those guys are used to Lovie's ways. In addition you've got to consider the other coaches; Tice, Martz, Marinelli, Hoke and Byrd, who have also contributed to the Bears success this season.
Don't get me wrong, I think we need to win on Sunday to prove once and for all who the kingpin of both the NFCN and the NFC itself is. Losing to the Packers makes the NFNC Crown a hollow victory and not getting to the Super Bowl when we have a real chance of winning it if we get there are coaching crimes in my opinion.
Still, you have to look at what we've got and what we'd lose in continuity if Lovie doesn't remain. The other thing is who would you hire to replace him and the incredible staff he's assembled. Regardless of Sunday's outcome I think you have to keep him around. This could be a chance for another 3-4 year run at the Super Bowl just like the 80's.

but it does show a connection with the fans cause to us it isnt just another game when we play them. Good example is the disconnect rich rod had with UM fans when he dismissed games against OSU just another game. You sure arent going to be getting everyones back with that attitude.

if we go to superbowl I think he should get a contract extension along with his staff right away.
if we dont I would wait half way through next season to see if the fire to return is still there.

spot on soul...
Some will NEVER like his personality and that will never change.. but you can't base anything ON THAT.. he wins he stays and we do need IMo that continuity for 2011 , especially martz for cutler..and that happens with an extension
