but it does show a connection with the fans cause to us it isnt just another game when we play them. Good example is the disconnect rich rod had with UM fans when he dismissed games against OSU just another game. You sure arent going to be getting everyones back with that attitude.
Oh think a "real smart" move to say it.. and as Grimm that redskin meathead also said it after interviewed in 2004.. think its was "coached" by the bears to say it to press more than any real "mandate" or reason to hire someone and lovie ran with what they told him to open the Conference with
well you heard wrong.. no Coach is gired to only bea one team and a 2-14 rcord would get all 32 coaches fired pretty quickly. Lovie was smart to use the "bear packers " line when hired, but that isn't the reason hired
Yep, you're right. I had heard that through word of mouth. I looked it up and found out he said that AFTER being hired, to gain fan support.
“I think he did [tarnish his legacy]. Not only this season, but the last few seasons, going back and forth [on retirement] and bouncing to a few different teams. I think about it, and I have to really think hard to think back to when he was a Green Bay Packer and when he played his best football and was in Super Bowls and when he became the Brett Favre we all know."
-Kurt Warner
Lovie Smith is not making any assumptions about the number of times he will be in a position to win a Super Bowl.
"To me, it's just about now, and what's happening at that time," Smith said Wednesday at Halas Hall. "Four teams have the opportunity to get to the Super Bowl and win. You have to assume that it is the only time you're going to have the opportunity. We've been in that position before where we were at the Super Bowl and we didn't win it then. We said: 'OK, next year we'll come back,' and it didn't happen."
The Packers are early 3 1/2-point favorites to win Sunday's NFC Championship Game at Soldier Field. The teams split two regular-season contests.
"It's definitely been a part of what we have dealt with this year," Smith said of the Bears' underdog role. "You know, coming out of nowhere ... it's not like a lot of people expected us to be in this position. The Packers were supposed to be in this position .... but to me in the playoffs, it's pretty hard to say a team should be an underdog in the playoffs.
"We played them, of course, twice this year and had two great games. The last game up at their place went right up until the end. I expect it to be the same type of game. Whether we're the underdog or not, we will see."
lovie get an extension? hell no , let him finish this deal ... remember when dick jauron (bad coach) had an extremely lucky 13 win season.. got waxed@ home in playoffs by philly ...one season does not warrant a new deal... in my opinion lovie is an average coach..angelo below average gm.. and bears caught every break this year , after 3 seasons straight with no post season lets see what happens next season when packers are healthier and better and detroit also.
I think Lovie deserves a big contract extension. Since 2005, Lovie Smith has coached his teams to four winning years in six seasons (2005: 11-5 and NFC North title; 2006: 13-3, NFC North/NFC Championship; 2008: 9-7; and 2010: 11-5 and NFC North title, berth in NFC Championship Game). I can see under his guidance the Bears becoming a powerhouse in the NFC North and around the league with a good draft this Spring as well as with the signing of a few key free agents. Where were the Bears before Lovie came along? They sure couldn't win under Dave Wannstedt or Dick Jauron. The Bears haven't had this kind of continuity of winning seasons since the Mike Ditka years. I say resign Lovie to a big, fat contract and make sure that each and every one of his assistants are happy with their salaries.
I think the players have a lot of respect for Lovie and thats SO important......I think the main problem we have is JA.....I'd be all for keeping the coaches we have and panning Angelo

Hey Nate, what's up? I'm really going to be interested in seeing where this goes in the draft come April. If Jerry Angelo drafts a C, a WR, and an OT, I'll be really happy, especially if they make a splash on our team. However, if he drafts a dud in the first round like he's done every year with the exception of Tommie Harris (who was a Pro Bowler three times and seems to be getting better now) and Greg Olsen, I'm going to be pissed and bitching for his removal as general manager.
