Bears payoff is quarterback who has them on cusp of Super Bowl

    Two first-round draft picks, a third-rounder and a $30 million extension later, I]bmbiggs@tribune.com[/I]
Once again someone leaves out the fact that in addition to Cutler we also got Denver's 5th round pick that year. (Come on Biggsy, you're better than that) We used it to select Johnny Knox who up to this point in his career (2 seasons) considering both his kick return and pass receiving skills may be worth just as much as one of those 1st rounders we gave up. For those who disagree at least you'd have to admit that he's been worth a whole lot more than most 5th rounders up to this point.

That aside I'm thinking that Jay Cutler has a huge opportunity ahead of him to show that he's a best QB in the NFCN, put a Super Bowl Ring on his finger, and prove that he's gonna be the franchise QB we all thought he could be for years to come.

yep and will be 2-0 in playoff's games and a SB appearance at least in his 2nd year starting for bears.. rodger's will be 2-2 and 2 playoff failures.. and this will be lovie's 2nd straight win in a NFC Champ game( 2006/2010 ..and mccarthy's 2nd straight NFC Champ loss( 2007/2010).. funny how the media has portrayed it different and i'd bet it still doesn't change even with a "W"

I actually think GB got away with alot of holds in that game also, their OL was getting abused so they were grabbing and holding just as much as the CB's grab and hold on defense.

I think Jay's an elite QB, just doesn't have the talent surrounding him that Rodgers, Brees, Manning do. Not to mention nearly every elite QB has been in the same offensive system with the same OC for at least 2 years. Give the Bears another offseason with Martz and a little bit of an upgrade on the OL and he will throw for 4500yards next year. I think the numbers he has put up this year are really outstanding considering the lack of talent this team has on offense and being in a new and complicated system, and he has played great in some important wins against great teams (eg Eagles, Jets).

Jay makes some bad decisions but also completes some insane passes. Personally I love it, much more exciting than watching Tom Brady dink and dunk it off for 5yds every play. It's fun to watch him play. The Bears defence has reached its peak but the offence is very young and is going be very dangerous in the future. Over the next couple years the Bears OL should improve dramatically as will the young receivers Knox, Bennett and Olsen. Add a big body WR that Jay can air it out too and you've got one hell of an offense for years to come.

Prediction: Cutler will pass for 4500 yards next season and will be recognised as an elite QB. He did it at Denver with an OL to protect him and a #1WR. Only 3 QBs passed for over 4500 yards this season - Manning, Rivers and Brees. He only passed for 3300 this year but he missed 1 game vs Carolina.

I really hope the Bears lock Martz in as OC for the next few years, even if it takes paying him as much as a HC. There's talk of him taking a head coaching job but I think he knows he's best where he can spend his time focusing solely on the offense.
