The guy OBVIOUSLY worked to get better after this last season and played pretty well for someone who was once deemed as unable to play without a great cast around him. He's gonna get better, and where I think we agree is that he actually needs a decent offensive line, and maybe a better WR or two. I think Bennet and knox have potential, but I don't know if either one is ever gonna be number 1 material.
Never proven that he was on steroids; that is still open for debate. That is my point. The media got that opening and buried him. By all reports, he has never taken to coaching or advise from other players. Now might that have changed after the wreck of last year, maybe but the jury is still out. Again 1 year is not going to change everything that has been Cutlers career to this point. He has to get better, in his play and his PR.
I'm not judging him HB; just giving you a look into the other end of the spectrum as to why thing are happening the way they are.
The media doesn't throw darts to decide who they are going to go after; that is normally something they pick up from interviews w/the player and other players. He had his critics before the whole trade debacle in Denver also; it's not like he was viewed in a negative light only when he go to Chicago.
My opinion has not changed on Cutler since the trade talks were going on; he was not near as good as his stats looked, and he had a lot of talent to help him out in Denver. He was not, imo, worth what we gave up for him; but he is ours now, and now we have to give him the pieces to succeed, which we haven't. He is the best talent of any qb that I have seen on this team; but it doesn't mean he's going to play upto that talent level if he doesn't improve his mechanics and attitude.
And my opion doesn't change the overall perception of the whole fanbase, who saw him as their first franchise qb in most of their lifetime. Same issue crushed Rex in this town, difference was, until the final year, Rex had the media's good side and was therefore given plenty of time to prove he was not good enough. Cutler doesn't have the media's good side, so now has to have better successs early. His first year failed in that mark mightly; this year negated the first year; oddly enough the same media that panned him last night is now coming to his defense(not by apologizing) but by reporting accurately what really happened. 670 had his back all day(for the injury/benching) and bashed him for his play in the first half...but guess what most people talked about. If he is smart he will hire a good PR firm to help him out; and also work harder to learn this O and correct his mechanics. The team around him will only be a deflection for a failing O for so long.

Pro Bowl running back Maurice Jones-Drew says he never meant to take a shot at Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler or question his toughness.
The Jacksonville Jaguars star told The Associated Press on Monday that his tweet comparing Cutler to former Florida coach Urban Meyer was merely a joke — one that clearly backfired.
Jones-Drew said he was rooting for Cutler and the Bears in Sunday's NFC championship game, and when Cutler left in the third quarter, Jones-Drew thought it was the perfect time to poke fun at the Gators.
"Hey I think the urban meyer rule is effect right now... When the going gets tough........QUIT," Jones-Drew posted on his Twitter page.
Jones-Drew has received death threats and plenty of ill will from Bears' fans.
Jesus, I'm thinking we have some of the worst fans, both those that are critical OF the team, and those too critical of those who jab AT the team. I certainly don't want to hear from Dilfer or any other guy until September, but anyone in their right mind should not wish anything horrible on anyone for an innocuous comment they made.

The fact is he finished the first half with a torn ACL and disregarded medical staff to try out the knee in the second half. He had to be pulled by coaches and medical staff. How does that make him a quitter? Sure he sucked even before the injury. So blast him for that. Don't blast him for something that isn't true. The Bears came up short but overachieved this year. Enjoy it. I know this will draw some illogical responses but I had to vent just once. I'll just finish with Go Steelers!
Fans are paid multi million contracts to be fans, and stay loyal from start to finish. Poor call. and F the Stealers and their woman abusing QB.
