Again 1 year is not going to change everything that has been Cutlers career to this point. He has to get better, in his play and his
PR.
I'm not judging him HB; just giving you a look into the other end of the spectrum as to why thing are happening the way they are.
The media doesn't throw darts to decide who they are going to go after; that is normally something they pick up from interviews w/the player and other players. He had his critics before the whole trade debacle in Denver also; it's not like he was viewed in a negative light only when he go to Chicago.
My opinion has not changed on Cutler since the trade talks were going on; he was not near as good as his stats looked, and he had a lot of talent to help him out in Denver. He was not, imo, worth what we gave up for him; but he is ours now, and now we have to give him the pieces to succeed, which we haven't. He is the best talent of any qb that I have seen on this team; but it doesn't mean he's going to play upto that talent level if he doesn't improve his mechanics and attitude.
And my opion doesn't change the overall perception of the whole fanbase, who saw him as their first franchise qb in most of their lifetime. Same issue crushed Rex in this town, difference was, until the final year, Rex had the media's good side and was therefore given plenty of time to prove he was not good enough. Cutler doesn't have the media's good side, so now has to have better successs early. His first year failed in that mark mightly; this year negated the first year; oddly enough the same media that panned him last night is now coming to his defense(not by apologizing) but by reporting accurately what really happened. 670 had his back all day(for the injury/benching) and bashed him for his play in the first half...but guess what most people talked about. If he is smart he will hire a good
PR firm to help him out; and also work harder to learn this O and correct his mechanics. The team around him will only be a deflection for a failing O for so long.
" given plenty of time " bla, bla, bla, bla. THIS is exactly the problem with the media. Sanctimonious childish blowhards. Everybody wake up. What Peggy Kucinski, David Kaplan, Boers and Bernstein, Mark Giangreco and others like them have to say doesn't mean Jack-spit.
What should you call any : Fumble , Hold , Interception , Three and out , or Sack ?
A " F.H.I.T.S " ? or a J'Marcus ?

Mike McCarthy has more playoff wins than Lovie Smith.

I'm sorry, you lost me at "never proven". Now to Cutler, I think he's done an overall great job at playing QB, remember, Martz's system is a difficult one to learn, and this was his first year in it (am i Lovie Smith?). He's made NUMEROUS horrible passes all year long, but I think that's a combo of feeling the need to win it for the team, being gunshy, bad mechanics at times and horrible route running. 3 of those can def. be improved with better players around him, the mechanics thing is a MUST FIX issue going into the offseason. If he doesn't put up better numbers but still makes those boneheaded throws that are or are almost picked off, then yeah, he's overrated.

Grow up. Their job is to report the news, and then give their take on it. And we as a people have tuned in since the start b/c we want to hear it and either agree or disagree. Media plays a huge and pivtol role in society, you might not like what they have to say but it doesn't change what they do is important.

He has not proven spit; proof is in winning, and he has not done enough of that in his career. one year does not change all the losing he's done. He has proven he has talent, but has not proven he can help a team win.
We agree that he has to continue to improve; but to just say he will is foolish, He has to show he can. And I'm not saying he cannot. Coins in the air, it's just a matter of time before we find out.

The fact is he finished the first half with a torn ACL and disregarded medical staff to try out the knee in the second half. He had to be pulled by coaches and medical staff. How does that make him a quitter? Sure he sucked even before the injury. So blast him for that. Don't blast him for something that isn't true. The Bears came up short but overachieved this year. Enjoy it. I know this will draw some illogical responses but I had to vent just once. I'll just finish with Go Steelers!
Agree with your position re: Bears and Cutler, but it's a the MCL.

Benjamin, I seriously lost every ounce of respect I had for you with the title of this thread and the OP. You disgust me.

Are you retarded? I'm not trying to be rude, and I'd hate to think I was actually insulting people who are developmentally disabled, but I cannot even begin to imagine what you're thinking. If it turns out that you are, I commend you for posting on message boards. Even your spelling is good. Congratulations.

Well, and NFL talent scouts are banging down the front door of your trailer, aren't they?

Your Favrephilia is well-documented, but I have to tell you a secret.

Ankles and knee ligaments aren't the same. I know they're both in that leg-thing-area, but they connect different and function differently. You can even ask your doctor - it's true!
