Johnson was signed off the Cards practice squad so he is already a member of bears, on a 1 yr deal FWIW

The Chicago Bears added a developmental prospect for offensive line coach Mike Tice, signing massive Herman Johnson off the practice squad of the Arizona Cardinals.

Primarily viewed as a guard, the Bears will begin working Johnson at right tackle.

Tice is familiar with Johnson as helped coach him during the 2009 Senior Bowl when he was a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars’ staff. Johnson was a fifth-round pick of the Cardinals. He was on the 53-man roster last season but was inactive for the entire season. Johnson spent the first 13 weeks of this season on the practice squad.

Johnson was a popular subject entering the draft after his career at LSU because he's so huge. Currently, he's listed at 6-7, 360 pounds. He's known as the House, and he was 15 pounds, 14 ounces when he was born, reportedly a record in Louisiana.
The Bears have been working to develop rookie seventh-round pick J’Marcus Webb at right tackle this season. He remains raw but is gaining valuable experience.

To make room for Johnson, defensive end Barry Turner was placed on waivers. Provided Turner clears waivers, he will be re-signed to the practice squad. The Bears added wide receiver Jeff Moturi and linebacker Marcus Buggs to the practice squad. They released offensive tackle James Marten, defensive end Ervin Baldwin and wide receiver Freddie Barnes from the practice squad.

I liked Johnson back in that draft and had hoped the Bears would take a look at him
