There are other cheaper options like Justin Blalock of the Falcons.
You beat me to it. I was going to say that NE probably would not put the franchise tag on Mankins for the reason you gave. They're not going to pay him LT money.

Blalock may be cheaper, but I still think the Bears would pay $40 M for five years to land Mankins. I don't think that's too incredulous of a possibility.

Can the Bears go another year with Omiyale at LT?
Preferrably not, but I could see a scenario where if we got Pouncey or Wisniewski, we slide Chris Williams back to LT and put the rookie at LG for now. Both are NFL ready, but Pouncey is a more natural OG whereas Wisniewski is a better fit at C.

if they target a WR in free agency it's gonna be Holmes I think. Remember when he came out, he got drafted by Pitt one pick before us..then Angelo traded down. I think he wanted Holmes then, when he wasn't there he moved down.

Holmes is only 5'11", not sure he's what we are looking for. Although he is tougher and more of a go up and get it guy than anyone we do have right now.

I am not married to the idea of the WR being 6'3" or 6'4" what we need is someone 6' or above that is physical and will make tough catches.

Roddy White is 6'1" and I would kill for him on the Bears.

Why not get Mankins, blalock and kalil? draft Pouncey if available and hope to god Webb and Williams work out as Tackles. That's what i'd do. WR can wait...

One of the intriguing moves this offseason will be haynesworth- while don't like how he played in washingtonton, we need a '3', and if he came on a incentive deal, and he would be forced to play for money, instead of having it, he could be worth the risk- but can't front load a thing, because IMo not sure he wants to play...

The question is, who do you trust more? Lazy Haynsworth or Harris who hasn't shown up in more than a game or two a season for years?

Either way you have a gamble.
