The guy has been a major force on the Bears defense this season, yet people feel like because he isn't in the Pro Bowl or an All-Pro, he's worthless as shit.
He might be the best we've got but the production isn't worth the amt of money being paid. He better start learning how to read QB's better cuz this team gives up too many long passes and the RAC is too high.
What should you call any : Fumble , Hold , Interception , Three and out , or Sack ?
A " F.H.I.T.S " ? or a J'Marcus ?

One word describes what Chris Harris creates for the Bears: TURNOVERS.

Totally agree, buddy.
Chris Harris is definitely our BEST defensive back and I'm very happy to have him back on our team. Plus, he's one of my favorite Bears.

That's incredible! I have never seen it layed out like that before, they make so much money it kind of makes me sick a little. I made just a little over $30,000 this last year......the lowest paid player in the entire league prolly makes over 100,000.

minumum salary is actually $400,000+ now and going up each year.. we shall see what happens in the new CBA

Well, we've got plenty of room to sign a couple of free agents provided they're not too expensive.

not as big as sems at first blush- because we only have 34 players under contract, so even if not big contracts that will eat into most of the cap space, we have an avg of $2.375/mill a player based on the 44 .8 mill left and 19 players needed, its very double but you can see quickly just 2-3 high priced players will put a strain on the numbers quickly

The Bears and the New Salary Cap
This is assuming there will be a new CBA in place for the 2011 season, if there isn't there's nothing to really talk about anyways. What we know for sure is the players union is willing to shrink there piece of the total revenue from 59.8% to 50%. The owners believe this is not enough but this means the maximum this years salary cap can be according to J Clayton is 120 million, 37 million less than 2009. There are 10 teams that had salaries over this amount in 2010 with the Raiders leading the way with over 150 million. Another 1/3 of the teams salaries were within 10 million of the new cap. There will also be twice as many unrestricted free agents this year.
My guess is that the cap will go down this year.
The assumption that the players are taking 10% less of a pie, even a pie that is getting bigger, would cause a decrease is sound.
I would think that you will see teams cutting the fat in the next couple of weeks.
I do not know if 120 million is an accuarte number but I would suspect that 130 million will not be out of the question.
This is one of the few good things that Jerry Angelo has done by front loading Cutler, Peppers and Taylor and making them more managable in future years.

Now damn it, they need to be making the salary cap INCREASE instead of decreasing it. The owners are such pigs. They have, for decades, prevented the players from earning the money that they rightfully deserve. The NFL is a pile of crap for this, and the owners in the league are the most oppressive owners of any professional sports league.
