OT OR Two Interior O-Linemen?
I have something I'd like to throw out for discussion...
The Cowboys, Giants, Colts and Eagles may all draft an OT in round 1 meaning that Carimi will most likely not be there at pick #29. Sherrod and Tyron Smith may also be gone. If I were JA I'd trade up 8 positions (Chiefs) and draft Carimi, assuming he's still there. Unfortunately that's not JA's style. He's a trade down guy. With that said I'd rather trade down and get extra pick(s) and draft a guard and a center and shore up the interior of the line (besides hopefully signing Logan Mankins in FA) I'd rather draft two good interior o-line players than reach for an OT simply because of need. Anthony Castanzo is a pretender and would be a wasted 1st round pick. We can then draft a premiere LT in 2012.
I wouldn't like Omiyale at LT in 2011, but I'd rather make sure we draft a premiere LT even if it means waiting 1 more year.
Thoughts?

Williams can play left tackle.
Acquire two new interior guys.

I really don't want to see Omiyale starting anywhere on the line in 2011... his false starts seemed to be just too costly while the offense was on a drive. I think its the left side of the line that needs the most work. Garza and Webb did a nice job in the second half of the season solidifying the right side. But I'd like to see them draft two interior linemen... a quard that can give C.Williams a run for playing time and a center to mentor under Kreutz (who I think we should re-sign for a year). I'd look to FA to sure up the LT position so you can have some proven experience next to a rookie. Also draft a T late for depth... I haven't been too impress with Kevin Shaffer.
None of my posts on this forum have been aided by the use of deer-antler spray...

one thing is for sure, if williams DOES make the Starting LT spot, He'll be that much better at helping the guy next to him figure out where he's supposed to be since he played most of the year at that spot.

The interior OL is terrible and a much bigger weakness then what we have at OT.
Between Williams, Webb and Omiyale we should be able to get by, but we have nothing on the inside of the OL.

so... Kruetz and Garza are... what exactly?... Kruetz came up just shy of another pro bowl trip. this was mentioned a couple of times briefly and then like somoene snapped their fingers we're right back to throwing the guy under the bus... either by flat out saying it, or by omiting his name every time we talk about the line... like he's already got his villa and the old folks home...
:the following is a general post made in response to the ridiculous amount of posts I couldn't possible reply to individually. No one person is singled out.... it's pretty much a class action "go F*** yourselves*
I swear to christ.... I didn't have access to a computer for 4 days and figured when I got back everyone would have calmed down a bit and start being a bit more rational....
if you didn't know a SINGLE thing about football, and judged our season SOLEY on fan reaction... you'd swear we finished as a 5 win team.
that's pathetic. I understand being upset, and not seing the season go as we all would have liked.... but for crying out loud... what does it take to be satisfied???.... hell just having a winning season was all bear fans needed for damn near 15 years that I can remember. division champs was Gravy, and if we made it past the first round of the playoff's it' was like little girls at christmas... and ever since the 06' season, 95% of bear fans have DEMANDED we make the superbowl every year or the season was a joke, we're a joke, the coaches are a joke, and the whole oranization is a joke... look no further than this year where everyone had us pegged as a lost cause 7 win team.... even AFTER we beat the eagles and established ourselves as legitamate.
I'm not even mad about it... i'm just digusted. how the HELL do you get off calling yourself a fan when most have NO CONCEPT of the definition.
We made it to the NFCC game. but because we lost to the freaking pack, it's the single greatest travesty known to man. the sky has fallen, the sea's are boiling, and Rosie O'donell is cute. hell has frozen over and the appocolypse is upon us.
at least... that's how the freakin board reads.
truly.. pathetic.

1. Olin Kreutz is in the bottom 3rd of starting Centers in the league and he may be closer to the bottom, and almost making the Pro Bowl proves that people like him. He was valuable to us because he made the calls on an inexperienced OL.
Name me another team that Olin Kreutz starts on at center?
Add the fact he might have 1 year left in the tank he is not part of the future plans.
2. Roberto Garz is terrible and might be one of the worst starting OGs in the NFL.
3. I am very excited about where we ended up this season, but the season is over and we need to look at how we are going to improve so that we can make the Superbowl.

You want to improve on the interior OL and get bigger and more physical I introduce you to the Bears pick,
1[29] OG Marcus Cannon [TCU] 6'6" 350lbs.

Really? is that why there was such a major improvement when Garza came back?... I'm not saying we shouldn't look at upgrading/looking to the future... but why go to such extrememes to lambast a guy who doesn't deserve it?...
trust me... nobody will agree more that when someone has it coming... I'm the FIRST person to light them the fark up, or be the one standing on the sideling throwing gas on the fire yelling.... get the little bastard!!!!
but when its UN-Deserved.... it makes me wanna kick a Nun in the solar plexus. Seriously?... why is it so hard to give a guy his props??? do people NOT understand that you can be critical of a guy AND give him the praise he desrves??...
Garza didn't set the world on fire, but if we didn't have him or Kruetz we'd still be picking cutler out of the turf. FACT.
is he Pro Bowler?... nope. was he and Kruetz absolutely VITAL to our success this year??... Yup.
are they VITAL going forward??... no. and we NEED to have guys for the future. nobody is arguing that.
you know what.... nevermind. trying to get people to act like adults, talk like adults, and even think like adults on the internet is a waste of time...
No wonder people troll... it's cause people NEED to be trolled.

Yes, we finishes 11-5, made the NFC title game, but at the end of the day we are doing what a five win team is doing. Watching another team play in the super bowl. The difference? They have a great pick, whereas we do not.
Not saying I would rather be a five win team, not at all, but I am saying at the end of the day there is not much difference.
Both teams have complaining fans
Both teams are watching the big game
Both teams are talking about who and what to draft to improve
