Oh MAN! Talk about "Post Super Bowl" Blues...

Anyone else feeling this way? .... or is it just me ......

I know we're not to the Super Bowl yet....and that is what I guess is REALLY bumming me out ~ that we wont be in it.

Man....I really bought into that shit.
And I KNEW Better! I knew all season long that this teams stinks. I knew it the minute we were incredibly LUCKY to walk away with a win in the very first game against the LIONS. You could read this season like a fortune teller reads tarot cards.
And there it was again, against Seattle - at home. And again against the Redskins - at home. And there again against the Panthers. Etc. Over and over.

Yet.......I bought into the hype. And really "believed" that they would fight like dogs to claim what they had been so lucky to obtain.

But, LUCK was gonna give it to them last Sunday. This time they would actually have to FIGHT for it.
And they just weren't good enough. And, not only were they not good enough, but they knew it....and they played like "Man! WTF are we even doing here!???"

To have lost such a MONUMENTAL game, to our BIGGEST rival.....on our own field, without very much of a fight, is just turning my stomach daily.

I have lost ALL desire to even talk about these slobs anymore.
Lovie's still making the same old fkin' mistakes. Nothing will "change" next year.
The Defense still sleeping in the first half. The Offense just flat out blows. Quarterbacks that just throw bombs where ever the fk they wind up. Receivers that can't catch them anyway.

It's the same old shit year after year. Think we'll get this close again "next year"? .... think again.

And I fear that I have also dam near lost all respect.

I find myself honestly feeling like I couldn't give a rats ass about the Chicago BEARS anymore.
I will always see them as MEGA LOSERS when it really counts, because, after all .... they really are.
    And that just sucks.

I wish I could at least HATE them, because then I could find something to say. Or something I even WANT to say.
But, I don't hate them. In fact, I find them so absolutely pathetic that I have nothing more then pity for them.
They really do suck.....and it's not really their fault. It's just the way it is.
I don't expect jack shit from this team anymore.

I don't want to talk about a "New" O-Line. I don't want to talk about Jay Cutler. I don't want to talk about how great Urlacher is....or Briggs, or Peppers, or Hester, etc.
Because, in the end.....it really doesn't matter.

    This "TEAM" stinks.
They really let us all down BIG TIME...and that's all there is to it.

You can say "At least we're not LIONS fans".....all you want. But it doesn't help.
The fact is....WE'RE NOT LIONS FANS.

We're Chicago BEARS Fans......and they blew the BIG one.....BIG TIME.

I find myself just not even caring anymore. I never thought I would be here. But, I am.

And that just sucks. I wish I could get it out.....but, I can't.
I just can not accept.....that in what was possibly the BIGGEST GAME this city has seen since 1941 (Bigger actually.....since there was no Super Bowl back then), the first in "For Ever" .... that the BEARS, and their arch Nemesis pared off in an NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME.....and it happens to be here in Chicago, for the hallowed GEORGE S. HALAS trophy.....IN SOLDIER FIELD......that they actually let the PACKERS shit on our turf....and, in a sense, THEY themselves SHIT on our turf.

I find this not only Unbelievable........but UNFORGIVABLE.

I just can't get my head around this. I am STILL stunned.

To me......it will never matter again how many times we beat the PACKERS......for they will always know, from this game forward ~ that when it REALLY COUNTS.....THE GREEN BAY PACKERS Decimated the CHICAGO BEARS....on their OWN turf, for their OWN trophy.....in an unbelievably HUGE Historic game.....a FIRST.....an NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME.....when it really mattered.

So what? ..... the BEARS won the division first......LOL!!!! Whoopie!!!!
When it really mattered.....they choked in the war.

So, beat them all you want Chicago. Go ahead and SWEEP the Packers next year! It really doesn't, and wont, matter.

And Lovie, and his horse shit "My BIGGEST GOAL is to defeat the Green Bay Packers"....can take a 100 foot flying leap off a 99 foot long pier.

Just a rant that I HAD to get off my chest for over a week now.

..... and NO ~ it doesn't feel better.

    Speaking of Post-Superbowl Blues:

    http://www.cnn.com/2011/HEALTH/01/31...cks/index.html

This Sunday's Super Bowl could prove to be a real heartbreaker for some fans of the losing team.
A new study suggests that the emotional stress fans feel after a loss may trigger fatal heart attacks, especially in people who already have heart disease. Stress generates the so-called fight-or-flight response, which causes sharp upticks in heart rate and blood pressure that can strain the heart.
For people with heart disease -- or for those who are at risk due to factors such as obesity, smoking, and diabetes -- such strain can prove harmful, if not fatal.
In the study, which was published Monday in the journal Clinical Cardiology, researchers analyzed death records in Los Angeles County for the two weeks after the 1980 and 1984 Super Bowls, both of which featured teams from Los Angeles. (The game days were included.) Then, as a control, the researchers looked at the same data from the corresponding days in the intervening years.
Health.com: 9 surprising heart attack risks
In 1980, when the Pittsburgh Steelers staged a fourth-quarter comeback to beat the underdog L.A. Rams, heart-related deaths shot up 15% among men and 27% among women in the subsequent two weeks, compared with the same period in 1981 through 1983.
There was also a significant increase in deaths among people ages 65 and older, the study found.

I, for one, will never look upon this team with any degree of shame or ill-will. What we managed to accomplish this year with a team that wasn't really built to carry itself as far as it went was nothing short of phenomenal. They beat the Packers once, and though the score indicates that the game was closer than it actually was because of a 4th Quarter surge, the Eagles. Sure, we lost games to the Giants, Seahawks, Redskins, Patriots, and Packers twice and looked bad doing it, but in the end, we were one game away from the Super Bowl in what had to be one of the more improbable runs in recent history.

Guitarzan, Sheila, and J.D., we have nothing to be ashamed about. Could the season have gone better? There were perhaps three games in the regular season that we threw away because of poor execution from the offensive line as well as poor playcalling from Mike Martz (Seattle, Washington, and Green Bay #2). If we had won those games knowing about the Bears what we know now, we would have finished with a 14-2 record, and would have probably hosted the Packers in the Divisional Round instead of the NFC Championship Game. More over, we would have been the #1 overall seed in the NFC, and who in the media would have dared to criticize us to the point of what we saw out of this season as bordering on persecution? Sure, we would have been grilled over the losses the Giants and the Patriots, and the pundits such as Trent Dilfer and Mark Schlereth would have said that we were exposed on our offensive line in those games, but think about what nearly was before going off half-cocked simply because we lost to the Packers in the NFC Championship Game at Soldier Field in Chicago.

One last thing: this ranting and raving about the perceived ineptitude by Lovie Smith by people on this message board is getting ridiculous. What people don't realize is that in seven seasons, with less than an abundance of quality talent at the skill positions, Coach Smith has managed to guide the Bears to four winning seasons, three NFC North Division titles, and an NFC Championship/berth in Super Bowl XLI. In 2004, he inherited all the bad apples from the Dick Jauron regime and finished with a paltry 5-11 record. Out of that came a decent draft by Jerry Angelo, and the Bears finished with big seasons the next two years, though they still never had the big offenses that other successful teams in the playoffs enjoyed. In 2006, with arguably the worst starting quarterback in the league and in the history of the Super Bowl, Coach Smith led the Bears to the NFC Championship on the legs of his two stud runningbacks. Though we lost in the Super Bowl, it was the most successful season the Bears had enjoyed since 1985, when the franchise won its only Super Bowl under Coach Mike Ditka.

Times were tough the following three seasons. Records of 7-9 (2007), 9-7 (2008), and 7-9 (2009) raised the ire of Bears fans all over the nation. Hell, even I questioned whether Lovie had lost his intensity since earning the huge pay raise in days and weeks following Super Bowl XLI. However, one thing always redirected my mode of thinking when I thought of what Lovie Smith was as a coach: he could have Bob Babich and Ron Turner coaching all he wanted, but the Bears defense and offense were only going to be as successful as the players' talent levels warranted. Finally, in 2009, Jerry Angelo decided to become more proactive in his dealing with the team, and he traded two years worth of 1st Round picks and QB Kyle Orton for the talented-but-raw Jay Cutler. Though Cutler struggled his first season in Chicago, averaging an interception with every touchdown pass (26 TDs to 26 INTs), I never lost faith in the team, because I knew that he needed to get comfortable in an offensive scheme. When Angelo signed Julius Peppers, Chester Taylor, and Brandon Manumaleuna (the latter, admittedly, did not fare too well this season, though Taylor was sort of hit-or-miss), it was a sign that the organization was committed to moving forward with building a team that would eventually compete to play in Super Bowls. When Lovie Smith and the front office conferred over the past two seasons to sign three coaches who were not only strong assistant coaches, but also were former head coaches (Rod Marinelli, Mike Martz, and Mike Tice), it was another sign that this team did not intend to sit by idly and lose to the extent that they from 1992-2004. All of this bared fruit in 2010; Chicago won its first division title in four years and were a Caleb Hanie "pick-6" to B.J. Raji away from possibly winning the NFC Championship Game with a 17-14 score, should the Bears have driven the length of the field at the end of the game without faltering.

Know this: I fully expect that Jerry Angelo will make some big moves this offseason. He will get either a big 1st Round draft pick or a couple of big free agents to beef up the weak areas of this team. I fully expect that he will go after Logan Mankins and possibly even Nnamdi Asomugha if the price is well-within our range. I think he will confer more with Mike Martz, Mike Tice, and Rod Marinelli on the big positions that we need, and I think he will coordinate his efforts with Tim Ruskell on matters with the offensive line as well. Jerry Angelo and Lovie Smith are on the cusp of building some very strong teams here for the future if they maintain this kind of focus and intensity in the offseason. They cannot afford to be cheap in signing free agents when it is warranted, and they must do a better job in drafting players at skill positions on offense and defense in the higher rounds. If we do all of this, and I don't see why the precedent of being proactive will fade away from the levels we've seen over the past two offseasons this Spring and Summer, and provided that the creeks don't rise and we have lock-out instead of business as usual, then I see no reason for us to not be back challenging the favored Green Bay Packers for the division title next season.

All is not lost, you three that I mentioned up above. You have to have faith in your team, else you are like the majority of University of Tennessee football fans are here in Knoxville when things aren't going well: you become a fair-weathered fan. I can't stand fair weathered fans.

I "get" all that you're saying Dag....and I certainly don't consider myself a "fair weather fan". I'll bitch my ass off for sure. But, that's only because I HATE losing....and I also hate when there's NO FIGHT.

But, I still don my BEARS gear....and start watching at 10:00 a.m. ~ ALL the BEARS Pre-game stuff, and am PINNED to the TV during every single game....AND win or lose....watch all of the Post Game stuff. Every single week.

What really kills me, and adds mega fuel to the fire....and frankly disgusts me is that I live on the Illinois/Wisconsin Boarder. I mean......right ON it.
And you would NOT BELIEVE the amount of "BEARS FANS" that are not only supporting the Packers, which I don't have a real problem with...I believe you can back your division....but they are actually Flying, and Wearing THEIR Colors!!!!
THAT just really messes me up.

I may, as much as I hate to say it.....BACK OUR DIVISION. But I would certainly NOT do it WEARING Green Bays "Colors"!

I would find a bar just over the boarder......and route for the NFCN......in my full blown BEARS Gear! ~ Right there in amongst all those Packers fans. I would be PROUD ... and would not hesitate to SHOW how PROUD I am of being a BEARS Fan. Even though I'm seriously pissed off with them (BEARS) at the moment.

And I believe even THEY would respect that more so then all these "turncoats" donning Packers' gear.
