Agree 100% they should show for the sake of the game and league, but understand esp the Conf teams that lost, not wanting to fly out to Hawaiii.. its why liked the idea of the game at the SB get better attandence, but just IMO they game is so awful now, I do not even watch it- think they need some "skills competition" on saturday again to get some "buzz", because the game is so bad

There are 32 teams in the nfl, all start 2 safeties. That's every starting safety and 9 backup safeties that had more tackles. I'm calling bullshit on that number.

I'm not arguing about whether the POY title is a popularity contest or not, I'm discussing the fact that you stated polamalu is just good.

73 safeties did not have over 63 tackles.

    No they did not.

He's counting all DBs, not just safeties.

I will give the DBs stat. I made a mistake. But the 142 other defensive players is right and I didn't count the ones that had just as many tackles as him. Ronnie Lott = great Polamalu is good in my opinion is over hyped. Sure he flys around the field like a mad man but he wiffs just as many if not more tackles than he makes. I have seen him so many times go for the knock out hit and miss. Then sometimes he does get a good hit on someone and that is what most keep in the front of their mind not the wiffs. Like I said just my opinion.

Any award that is voted on by people, by nature- a 'popularity" contest. and think you have your Numbers confused, has to be defensive backs, not safeties, but i'd no read too much into that as teamsa void great players and not target them so tackle numbers harder to get

Ed Reed is probably the best safety I have ever seen, had he played a fulll season he probably he wins it for sure. Troy made alot of game changing plays though, so I have no problem with him getting it, Matthews got all the attention for having all those sacks the first several games of the year, but he didn't wasn't nearly effective after those first few weeks. The amazing thing is the Steelers had 2 of the top 3 DPOY players, thats pretty amazing.
