Don't think ever will be elite, but he showed in the playoff game can play at this level
Agreed, there have been plenty of QB's (late round draft picks and undrafted players) that were backups come up to the top ranks in the NFL. I think he shows as much potential as any of them did.

Yep with the exception of tom brady, you can get functional, but not elite Qb's later.. its really amazing the top 10 qb's in 2010 in nfl *ALL* first round picks outside brady... and in 10-20, you get some 2nd tier qb's like schuab( 3rd round), gerrard(4th round) or orton( 4th round)

As an aside what do you think is a bigger need for the Bears between WR and CB?
I say CB.

I still think Brady is a second tier QB that puts up first teir numbers due to the system that he is in. Cassell kind of proves that point.
But I also don't think you have to have a gunslinging QB to produce on offense. For instance, there were 5 of the top 10 qb's that made the playoffs, and 6 of 11-20 that made the playoffs. It's pretty even.

Think CB.. but that can be from F/A more than draft..still would like be it f/a or draft a tall "go get it" WR also.. but between peanut being older and bowman regressing in 2010, CB has become a bigger priority

agree about the Gunslinging part, just saying more and more the 'top qb's" just coming from top of draft than from all over, like was in 1960's-1990's when had more top guys taking later..

Yeah, when you said that I was kind of stunned, because I hadn't really looked at it. I was shocked that only 1 in the top 10 came from a low draft spot because it didn't used to be that way.

Why? He isn't that good.. He is decent, but you can find decent on the market cheaper. And you suggesting that AZI gives up Larry Fitzgerald and a high draft pick for Hannie?

Besides the Oakland corner, which we are more than likely not going to even pursue let alone sign, what FA CBs do you like?
For me it's Champ Bailey, but he's only got maybe 2-3 good years left.

UGH....Name me a better backup, that knows this system and didn't wilt in such a big spotlight (yeah, he threw that pick 6, but the dude was working on the practice squad). The Fitz comment was a reference to something someone else had said and was a joke. Of course we're not gonna get him and a first or second, but That's why I said it: because we should keep him, unless we are blown away by an unprobable offer. Jesus, man.
