Current Bears with a shot at the HOF?

Which current Bears have a shot at the HOF? I think there are 5 that potentially can join that discussion.

    Urlacher
    Briggs
    Hester
    Kreutz
    Peppers

Obviously there is no way all 5 get in, but they all can potentially join that discussion by finishing the 2nd half of their careers they way they started. A superbowl ring sure would help, had their shot this year but didn't get it done.

Hester and Urlacher. Briggs and Peppers still have a lot more work to get in. Kreutz isn't even as good as Kevin Mawae was (god i miss the god ole days of the Jets), and he's not headed to the hall, so i'd scratch that one.

Kreutz could make the team hall of fame but not sure of the NFL HOF. Briggs may even have a hard time. Hester is a shoe in and Urlacher and Peppers has a good chance as well. I will throw in Cutler and Forte as they are still early in their careers and can turn it up and impress the NFL.

I would agree that Urlacher is the one with the most potential to enter the Hall of fame. He has the numbers to qualify.

Hester is the best at what he does, but what he does is just play on Special teams. While he does hold a few records (and likely will have more when his career is over) just being a contributor on Special teams may not be enough to get him in. His contributions on offense are not nearly good enough to help him.

Briggs is off to a good start, but he still needs work to show he is capable.

Kruetz, he is a no for reasons Burris already stated.

Peppers, he is good, but his career is still young. Much like with Briggs, he has a lot to prove.

urlacher will make it, his even getting NFLDPOY this year votes shows he still has years left and playing at an elite level.

hester SHOULD mkae it, but IMO needs to put that record in the rear view mirror and get to 20 return td's to ice it and leave no doubt about the "greatest" returner ever

Peppers, needs a few more top 15+ Sack years( while don't agree about sacks being so importatn it does seem that way for hall) and dominating the Line before he is HOF worthy

briggs a much tougher case, and again, while don't agree, becuase he doesn't play the 3-4 and so many OLB of the 3-4 hve sack totals he will IMO get passed over, despite his credentials.. cornelius bennet in same boat, great at their jobs- but unfort the glory goes to the sack artist OLB's, even when over-all these OLB's are better

Kreutz will always will be a HOF to me, he will not make it IMO because of other lineman more dominent in his era

I agree that Urlacher and Peppers will probably both be locks when they retire, Peppers will probably end up in the ballpark of 130 career sacks, and everyone knows he's also great against the run. Getting voted to the pro bowl or more importantly, the all NFL team, is important only because those are looked years later. Briggs shows no signs of slowing down either, which is good for Bear fans.

CURRENT Bears with the best prospects are Urlacher and Hester.

    Both need continued excellence though.

Next on the Bear HOF agenda......Jimbo Colvert. Dent said just yesterday that after facing Colvert in practice everyday, games were easy.

Covert was great but has zero chance at the HOF. For an OL player, he needs to be on the all NFL team alot and play a long career, neither of which he has on his resume. I doubt you ever even see him on the final ballot for the HOF.
