Bears need to go OL in the first round, and I would not cry if both 1st and 2nd were O-linemen, but if Nevis is still available it would be hard to pass him up. Nevis 1st round, Ziemba 2nd.

http://www.draftcountdown.com/Scouti...hn-Moffitt.php Strengths:
• Prototypical height and bulk with thick frame
• Is very strong, tough and extremely powerful
• Gets an outstanding push in the run game
• Can control defenders and sustain blocks
• Able to pull and get to the second level
• Smart with excellent instincts / awareness
• Aggressive, nasty and will finish his blocks
• Mature and a hard worker w/ leadership skills
• Capable of playing any position on the interior
• Has tons of experience versus top competition
Weaknesses:
• Doesn't have ideal arm length or large hands
• Average base and not stout at point of attack
• Does not show very active or violent hand use
• Tendency to play with high pad level at times
• A little stiff and is not a natural knee bender
• Older than most prospects (25-year-old rookie)
• Might have some health and durability concerns
Both he or Danny Watkins may be a good pick in the third but will they last until late in the round? Shufflin' picks for an early third may be a good idea.

Or grab one in the late second

Hope so because I think he'll prove to be a better pro than any of them ranked higher. Can't see Solder ranked that high unless it's his height (wingspan?) and 40 time that put him there. CU had a shitty year and he by no means dominated against better teams. Plus to me he's undersized at 315lb although I don't doubt that he'll be asked to bulk up in the pros. To me he's another Chris Williams type. More finesse than power.
The next three come in smaller packages than Tice usually likes to have and I don't think that one of them dominates against both the pass and the run the way that Carimi does. Carimi is a guy who has J'Marcus Webb size but is far more polished and in all likelihood ready to start since he played in a pro style system at UW. If he's ranked as high as #4 (and I think that will change before the draft) he still may go well before #29 and once again we end up with picking whoever was our second choice once again.
I'd like to avoid that this time around.
while agree on solder, you know at least one team will fall in loe with that 4.9 forty early.. : )
I'm just saying its a gamble granted, but alot also depends on what teams asking to move up.. its one thing to say "let's move up", quite another to actually do and not severely overpay( ie a 3rd rounder instead of a 6th).. for someone who "may" be there anyway..

If we do draft oline in the first, it won't be a tackle.

...and that would be a shame. I have a feeling you may be right along with a feeling we're going to see J-Webb moving to the left side, at least experimentally.

I hope Not- J-webb seems much more the prototypical RT and power run Tackle on right side because of the freakish size.. but not the speed and moves for LT and going against te top Pass Rushers. Like Big Cat before him, that size is perfect for a RT and run blocking, not so much pass protecting a Qb's blind side against speed rushers

"The Bears led the NFL in sacks allowed (60) in 2010. Jerry Angelo should be exiled if he doesn't improve the offensive line.
Chicago will go all out this offseason to get Logan Mankins or Carl Nicks. If Angelo can't get either, he'll have to address the left guard position in the 2011 NFL Draft."
This is the problem Angelo faces. Until the CBA is taken care of there will be no FA so he is then committed to making his OL moves via the draft so does he pick an OT or an OG/C in round one and or two and if he does this does that negate him going after a top tier OL when FA does open up. I also would like to know why many have us picking at position #29? wouldn't we be #30 having beaten the Jets in head to head and therefore finishing in what would be considered 3rd place for the 2010 season. I thought that is how it works.......

Yep think that is why the teams "may" try and get a deal Now, instead of waiting until summer- reall affacts all teams if have to do a draft w/o knowing who can et/not get in F/A and makes it much harder to draft not knowing who will be available
and the tiebreaker done by "strength of schedule", hence bears 29th jets 30th
