Faulk criticizes Johnny Knox

Faulk criticizes Johnny Knox
Newly elected Hall of Famer also says Cutler reminds him of Roethlisberger

February 10, 2011
Newly elected Pro Football Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk had some choice comments about the Bears and the Mike Martz offense:
"In this offense if you run a slant and a defender is coming down on you then you have to cross his face," he said Tuesday on "Chicago Tribune Live."
"But every time I see Johnny Knox run a slant he goes behind the defender and you see an interception go the other way and everyone looks at Jay Cutler and says, 'How did he throw that pass?' That is going to be a mistake no matter who the quarterback is."
On the quality of the Bears wide receivers: "I see no pure wideout. When we ran Martz' offense in St. Louis we had three or four pure wideouts. … If you are still teaching that stuff to your wide receivers then in this offense you can't blame the QB."
On Cutler: "People in Chicago expect Jay to be Tom Brady or Peyton Manning. I think he is more like Ben Roethlisberger. Guys who win but sometimes that winning is going to look ugly."

Pretty interesting, what Faulk has to say. It does make you think that when the offensive line started to settle down towards the end of the year, the wide receivers just weren't getting open; his explanation makes a lot of sense.

He makes some good points.

It bugs me to no end when I see see Knox waiting for that football to come down, while the defender jumps up and makes a play on it. Thats football 101, I learned that in high school. You always attack the ball at it's highest point (like the defender did), if Knox jumps with 2 hands and plays the football, then it doesn't get intercepted. I see Bear WRs make that mistake over and over.

I think in an ideal situation, we'd have he and hester fighting for a spot with Bennet and a true number one are the starters.
I think OL, WR, then DT and CB are really what need to be addressed this offseason. Everything else can either wait or, unless we get a crazy good deal, not get involved...

But improving our O-Line improves the WR's...right...?!? At least that is what I have heard. Is Airesse Currie healthy yet...?!?

And yet we didn't replace Drake with someone Martz wanted. Wr coach esp for Martz is a foundational hire.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.

Funny how former players criticize the current players in todays game. Faulk had his flaws with both teams he played on. JMO, Knox just needs more time in the league like most other wrs. Some come out real good and others struggle. Now if J. Knox were a first or second round draft pick I would be more critical about his play but he is not. I don't expect a 5th round draft pick to be tearing up the league in his second year.

I like it better when you bitch about Angelo and Smith.

Smith and Angelo are cheap, lying, no-good, rotten, fore-fleshing, low-life, snake-licking, dirt-eating, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, blood-sucking, dog-kissing, brainless, dickless, hopeless, heartless, fat-ass, bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spotty-lipped, worm-headed sack of monkey dumps. Hallelujah. Holy sh!t. Where's the Tylenol?
Is that better...
