Caleb Hanie: Can you imaigne?

Considering the knuckleheads in the Bears coaching ranks and the GM, I'm a fearful that next season (considering we have one), we'll bring in another washed-up veteran to be our #2 QB, and then send Hanie back to #3.

Something like:
1. Jay Cutler
2. Donovan McNabb
3. Caleb Hanie

Hanie has definitely earned #2. McNabb is approaching the end of his career. Somehow, Lovie and his crew will justify the above rankings because McNabb (or another washed-up vet QB) has much more experience and "gives us the best chance to win."

After all, this reasoning worked SO WELL with Todd Collins.

Seriously, I would not be at all surprised if this is what happens. Definitely won't be surprised... but I will end up being extremely pissed off.

I would take McNabb as a second stringer, but it could very well be played that he was given the shaft in Washington, much the same way he was in Philly. he'd be too expensive, but the best backup we could get is already on the team.

McNabb and others still think he can play. There are rumors that if AZI can't get Kolb from Phi they will go after McNabb, I would think then they would draft a QB, to take McNabbs place in a couple of years.

The Best backup is Marc Bulger, someone that knows Martz, the system and if Jay goes down we have faith in. But, if Backup QB is your main concern, then you are in a great spot. Sadly, keep Jay upright will help not needing a backup.

I agree with your whole post, except I'd say that Marc Bulger vs. Hanie for the number 2 spot, but I don't see Bulger making any comeback with the Bears.

Nearly leading your team to a comeback in the NFC championship game looks pretty damn good on a resume'.

Comeback? He be the backup.. Get a good 2-3 OL in here, and he sits and watches for 18 games.

We have a very good backup; no need to bring in another one. But I agree w/the sentament of the OP, this staff will screw it up again.

Screw up how?... we made the NFC championship game after a dismal season last year.

was our first year in Martz's new offense so even the most talented players would look pedestrian. it's called the "learning curve" a term nobody here seems to want to ackknowledge.

we need O-line BAD. outside of that we look pretty damn good and no other position is in "dire need"..... we could stand to plug in a few more good players (CB, WR, D-line) at other positions.... but as a "WHOLE"...

this team is gonna be scary good, and you don't get scary good by "screwing up"...

I just don't get the logic.

Any team that thinks, and KEEPS, Todd Collins as a back-up QB has SERIOUS talent evaluation issues...!!! That just screams of ineptitude up and down the ranks...
