Chicago Bears rank last in punt averages
In first place : Dallas Cowboys...47.2 Net average...41.7
In last place : Chicago Bears...40.1 Net average...35.2
Inside the Twenty :
New York Jets...42 inside... #1,
Chicago Bears... 24 inside... #17
I like the shit out of Brad Maynard but 6 yards is 6 yards on a 100 yard field.

Does this really surprise anyone who has seen Brad suck farts all year and get zero distance or hang time the last few? Seriously, if it weren't for Graham's beastly play as a gunner, Maynard would have looked even worse.

Draft a punter in the seventh and then line the walk on's up after the draft?
Is there any class A talent at punter worth giving a look to during the draft?

Well we just signed the McGee guy we've had in camp the last 3 years. I think that is their move.

Like I said in the other thread, there's a couple good punters on the FA market who I would prefer in Podelsh and Kern. Seriously, I can't imagine Toub ISN'T asking for Podlesh right now with his directional ability. As for the draft there's actually some HUGE legs in this draft with Henry, Epperson and Donahue, but my favorites are Bosher and Forrest. Don't sleep on Aaron bates, either.

Did you just say draft a punter in the 7th round? We use the 7th round picks to draft OL.

Punting is the one area of our special teams play that sucked this season. I'm sure that that area will be addressed this offseason.

Dallas' punter plays in an enclosed stadium while Maynard kicks in Soldier Field so I'll cut him some slack in that department but his consistent ability to pin teams down with his directional punting and kicks inside the twenty are failing. No doubt it's time for a replacement but if McGee isn't the guy and we have to get along with Maynard for one more year I won't bitch too much. LOL

Lets hope Toub brings in everybody not drafted and gives them all a tryout.
It used to be the Maynard/Hester setup put us in great scoring range.
Maynard has fallen off and Hester is getting his wheels back again.
