In my book we haven't had a guy play that spot as well since he left and that includes Harris even at his best. I'll even forgive him for spending a year in green and "baby shit yellow" at the end of his career.

He's another 85 Bears who really deserves as much HOF recognition for his contributions to the Dline as do Hampton and Dent but he'll never even get nominated.
I'm a big mongo fan, BUT will disagree that tommie in his prime in 2005/2006, before the hammy pulled off bone and knee injury, was better, he was faster/stronger and had 5 sacks and just dominating games, despite double teams when got injured in 2006( and if either he or mike brown had not gotten injured not a chance indy runs the ball like did the SB..imo), heck even in 2007, tommie had 8 sacks which for a DT is very good.. just hasn't been the same since, but his play in 2005/06 IMO better than mongo and he did it with much LESS next to him.. hampton vs ian gould or tank not even a close comparison

But.....Tommie Harris will never pull off the number of sacks in his career (92+) that McMichael did no matter how long he plays and no matter who lines up next to him. I think you're giving Harris too much of an out based on his injuries. It was his attitude coming back from those injuries that makes him less a player in my eyes. Even he admitted that he just didn't put 100% effort into the game as he did earlier in his career. He babied himself in order to prolong his career which is something I never saw out of McMichael despite his injuries.

Mongo was a high motor kind of player and Harris hasn't been that for the better part of 5 seasons now. Mongo was a player up to the very end but Harris is in the twighlight of his career and it shows. We both agree on that I think. What I'll give you on this is that Tommie Harris had the POTENTIAL to be one of the greatest Bears DTs ever but he didn't want it badly enough. I can't accept the injury excuse when Dan Hampton had far more surgeries than Harris and still made the HOF. That can't even be a dream for Tommie Harris.

He just goes down in my book as one of the biggest disappointments in Bears history.

Oh we agree on the END RESULT( and why said 2005/06 ),mongo ends up much better and tommie just never recovered from his injuries and NOT the same player , and yes, was talking POTENTIAL, that w/o the injuries IMO tommie would have been the best, but that that didn't happen, and NEVER will now
