    Released Players Worth Looking At

With the upcoming cuts and salary dumps before the lockout I though it would be interesting to look at somf of the recent releases of players and if there is any interest in the Bears bringing them in.

    DT Marcus Stroud [Buffalo]

Bring back Kevin Payne. He's cheap and would be a decent backup at SS.

I would like to see a veteran wr get released and picked up by the bears for 1 or 2 years. I think we need experience more at wr.

CB Eric Wright [Cleveland] is not expected to be resigned after a poor 2010.

He is 25 and will come cheaper then most options and in 2009 he was very good.

meh, he wasn't good enough to make any team's roster last year. He was the Rams camp fodder.

    I'd pass on him....again.

Really? He's a hard-hitting safety with some ball skills. He would be a better backup than Bullocks/Steltz. He started all 16 games in '08 and was our best SS in '10, just saying...

Marcus Stroud, a 33 year old DT who can't stop the run and was released by Buffalo, by Buffalo for crap sakes!!!!!!!!!!!! Why would you even want to think about even spending the price of an airline ticket on the guy. His career was over when he left Jacksonville or he wouldn't have been had so cheaply. He's toast........pass.

Not better than Bullocks or Steltz or he'd still be on the team. He's an undersized LB who can't cover more than he is a SS. We've got plenty of guys who can hit but what we need are guys who can cover and hit. He didn't show well enough to make the Bears roster or to become a starter with the Rams so why waste the time to find out what we already know. If he comes cheap maybe he can play ST's.

First, didn't play for us in 2010.

Second, he hit hard but never wrapped up. Took bad angles on receivers/runners. Was frequently out of position too. He looked good when he started in 2008 early in the season, but as teams got more tape on him he was exposed. I too had thoughts of him developing, but he didn't. We cut him, he couldn't even make the practice squad for the Rams. Nuff said.
