Knox can gain some strength and be taught to fight for the ball. It may not be as instinctive in him as some but it can be taught or at least encouraged.
Then that would reason that Drake would be part of the problem.

WR's
Knox and Hester have speed and quickness, neither is going to break many tackles.
I'd like to see a bigger reciever for Cutler, and strong enough to fight for the ball.
I don't think great speed is really a must,as the other WR's can stretch the field.
Size, good hands and the ability to work outside are what I look for.

I just now got into this thread, so I'm going to lay my two cents out regarding the need/want aspect for a #1 wide receiver.
Every great offense over the past 35 years had at least one key WR. In the 1970s, the Steelers had John Stallworth and Lynn Swann. In the 1980s, the 49ers had Jerry Rice. In the 1990s, the Cowboys had Michael Irvin. This decade, the Colts had Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne, while the Patriots have had Wes Welker and, for a few years, Randy Moss. We say we are aiming to be a great team, but this batch of wide receivers is just not cutting it against the better defenses in the league. Look at what the Packers did to the Bears in Week 17 and for a great deal of time in the NFC Championship Game! We couldn't get a man open going up against Charles Woodson, Tramon Williams, and Nick Collins. Our guys are undersized. We need a WR who is at least 6'3"-6'6" to be the go to guy. I think we can get a guy in the draft to fill that position in DeAndre Brown, or we can sign Sidney Rice in free agency. The point is, is that we need at least one clear cut number one receiver, and as much as I admire the heart of Johnny Knox, I just don't think that he can get it done going one-on-one against a big time defensive back.

Yes shorty, it would and I've never thought that he wasn't part of the problem. He's been faced with some of the same issues that Tice has, like getting #1 WR performance out of a #5 undersized pick, turning a former CB/KR into a #1 WR, and seems to have had less success with his projects than Tice has with his Oline even though he's had more time coaching them.
I'll grant him another year to improve Knox and for the Bears to get some of the needed help at WR before I judge his contributions to the passing game any more harshly than I have. However, I do think we could hire someone better than Drake based on what I've seen from him so far.

So say one and so say we all!

Soulman, what do you think of DeAndre Brown, the 6'6" WR coming out of Southern Miss? His skills are awesome, but I fear that his attitude and his injuries from this past season will hurt his draft stock. Perhaps we can get him in the middle rounds? Your thoughts on this, please, good sir.
