5 landing spots for Bob sanders- chicago bear
Five possible landing spots for Bob Sanders
The former Colts' safety should draw interest this offseason. Matt Bowen
On Friday, I ran through my notes on safety Bob Sanders after his release from the Colts. A player I see that can still contribute—and act as an upgrade—for some rosters in the NFL. Injuries are a concern with Sanders. There is no way around that. But, when healthy, all you have to do is turn on the tape to see him impact on Sundays.
There will be interest for the former Indianapolis safety. Let’s look at five teams (outside of the possibility of re-signing with the Colts) that need to give Sanders a call.
5. Chicago: Think immediate upgrade for Lovie Smith’s defense. That’s how I see it. FS Chris Harris did have a solid season in 2010, but the Bears could add Sanders to play alongside Major Wright in the secondary. And just like Minnesota, Sanders is walking into a scheme that he knows. However, the overall talent is what Chicago needs in their secondary to compete with Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. Why not give Sanders a look? He could be a fit.

If Sanders is healthy again and can play up to his former level of play I'd take him over anyone else who was available. To me he was the best SS in the game before his injuries. He tore us up in the Super-Bowl and made Cedric Benson "cry momma" with that hit he put on him.
If he could recover like Urlacher did he'd be a real catch but I'm afraid that he isn't the player he used to be or the Colts wouldn't be letting him walk. If he were willing to sign a deal for a minny salary laced with incentives I'd say go for it, if not I think I'd pass.
Does anyone know what his injury status is? Seems to me he's missed most or all of the last two seasons with injuries and that's never good.

I don't know his injury status as of now, but he's been injured almost every season since he was drafted.
I believe he was even injured in 06, but made it back for the playoffs.
Its been continual.

How about Atogwe and Asomugha together-let the announcers chew on that one.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.
Restore the roar!

I had a sense that was the case. I even remember him from his days at Iowa. Many thought he'd be too small to be as physical in the NFL as he was at Iowa. Boy were they wrong but then again maybe it's his physical style of play that ends up getting him injured so often.

That would be my thinking as well. We don't need another unintentional "heart breaker" like Mike Brown. Sanders only becomes worth it if he is healthy and can stay uninjured something he's not been able to do.

LOL, they'd probably be saying over the cap limit too.

Chris Harris is still young and VERY capable. Major wright would have seen more time had he not had the injury bug...
I'd like to see us add depth and security, but I'm not sure it's worth the price.
the rotation of Manning, Harris, and Wright (when available) seemed to pay Dividends.
