And in all categories urlacher had better numbers than singletary- for big reason he should be in.
Fair enough. We all know that Urlacher is one of the greatest Bears MLBs, but to be in the HoF, a player has to be one of the greatest at their position in comparison to ones from all other teams. Thats why when considering Dent, who was one of the greatest at his position having to wait so long, i just didnt think Urlacher has yet reached the position of one of the greatest MLBs of all time, but when comparing him to Singletary, then i guess it makes a stronger case for him.

That's exactly what I would say gamma. I believe that Url's got another three or four good years in him and I'd much rather wait to see what it looks like then. For now let's just say that he's on track to be selected but who knows how long it will take to get voted in. Dent was one of the most dominant DE to play the game and look how long it took for him.

I think because of how great the 85 bears defense is, at least to those who aren't religiously devoted to the Bears, Dent was just another great player. I think missing the 09 season showed Urlacher IS our defense; not to take away from Dent, but I'm saying just looking at it from a neutral perspective, Urlacher looks more dominating for his defense than Dent did.

Might be easier to look dominant at MLB than DE. Dent was as dominant a Bears DE in his era as Peppers is today and maybe even more so. Dent was one of five, I think it was, defensive Super-Bowl MVP's. Early in his career after he put on some weight the guy was almost unstoppable as a pass rusher and still played the run well. Read Jimbo Covert's comments about him on the Official Site.

The public in general might not have known how great he was but every LT in the league who ever had to block him did.
