Did 2010 put Urlacher in Hall of fame?
Thought a good discussion for a slow day- before the season many were borderline on urlacher and wonder how many have changed and do think a HOF now with his great 2010- does he still need a ring? or did another NFCC and 100+ tackle, 4 sack, 10 PD nd 1 INT season get him there for you?
Is urlacher now a Hal of famer? yes or no?

We're Black and Blue All Over:
Shortly after he suffered a season-ending wrist injury in 2009, we debated whether Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher had done enough in his career to merit enshrinement in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Our conclusion: Borderline.
But what about now, after Urlacher returned for a Pro Bowl season in 2010? In an interview with the Bears' website, coach Lovie Smith said: "I don't think there's any doubt."
Smith: "He's the face of the franchise here for a good reason. He's been [defensive] MVP of the league. I think it would help for us to be able to win a championship with him. But his body of work is worthy of being in the Hall of Fame. He's one of the [best] all-time players to play the game. Judging him against other great linebackers, I'd say that Brian is deserving."

nope. Seeing how hard a time Dent had getting in, and he had better credentials and a SB win...i dont think 2010 was enough for lach.
-
Personally do think he has the credentials and made it, here is his numbers:
urlacher- 1,190 tackles,41.5 sacks,18 INT's , 72 PD, 9 FF and 11 FR's
ray lewis(4 more years),1909 tackles, 38.5 sacks, 30 INT, 73 PD, 16 FF and 19 FR
derrick brooks( 3 more years) 1,715 tackles, 13 sacks,25 INT, 60 PD, 25 FF and 15 FR
junior seau(9 more years ) 1,849 tackle,56.5 sacks, 18 INT,23 PD, 11 FF and 18 FR

I dont see Urlacher catching any of them in most if those stats, especially tackles
He could match ints, ff, or fr for one or two of them, but based on those stats, I'd take all ahead if Urlacher

urlacher ahead in sacks on all except brooks( but can catch him), he's also ahead on passes defended, meaning he is not only attacking the Qb in backfield, but also very good in coverage downfield( passes defended) and will pass both seau and broks in INT..Seau avg less in all categories, he just played 19 years not 10.
And the bears "D" being significantly better in 2010 over 2009, when didn't have urlacher, IMO also goes a long way to showing his value to the team and Hall of fame credentials
-
I would just wait until he retires then look at his credentials. Can't do much of anything like that right now.

I said he didnt have the credentials that DENT did...and Dent had to wait forever and a day, and so will it be with Urlacher, especially since there are quite a few first ballot players in the past decade.

dent never won the NFLDPOY nor did dent win the Rookie of year, both awards that urlacher won... urlacher has 8 probowls and 4 All pro's.. dent only 4 probowls and 1 AP all pro.. not sure how you think dent has better "credentials".. except fo a SB win, which is more a team award, than an individual award( and if a Sb needed, butkus and sayers would not be in the HOF)
really hard to compare a DE to a MLB by stats-personally do think Uracher better overall and was game planed more than Dent for why he will have an easier time than dent did.

I never compared them by stats, you did.
I said credentials...Dent is 6th all time in sacks, 7th all time in forced fumbles, was the anchor of one of the best Defenses of all time, and has a superbowl ring. And my point being...even if Urlacher is CLOSE to Dent in terms of stats or credentials, i still dont see how that will bolster his case any since it took so long for Dent himself to get in. I just dont see it happening for awhile, he probably will get in, but he needs a few more solid seasons and a SB win to help expedite that process.

Was going to say something like that.
