Daniel Manning.
I know a lot of talk has been going around about the Safety's on the market (Atogwe and Sanders)... then I came across this which I think say's alot about how good Manning REALLYL is, and I've been up and down on the guy... but this is hard to Ignore.
Danieal Manning - free agent - I'd love for Manning to return, I thought he really settled into the strong safety position in 2010, but I think he wants a change of scenery and a fat raise. If he doesn't get a ridiculous offer I can see him entertaining the thought of remaining a Bear, but if I were to make a guess it would be that he's gone.
Pro Football Focus had Manning ranked as the 7th best safety in the NFL. Just 0.2 behind Defensive Player of the Year Troy Polamalu. And well ahead of O.J. Atogwe and Bob Sanders. If the Bears are seriously considering signing either of those two over Manning I would be disappointed. Even though Manning had only 1 interception, he didn't allow any TDs on his watch. And when quarterbacks threw at Manning their QB rating was only 59.7.

I tought that right there would be enough to at least get some attention.

Or maybe everyone had this guy pegged as another J.A. bust, and is looking more like another J.A. Diamond in the rough. Seems to be polishing up pretty nice.

Manning has been great for us in '10. Hope he returns!

I agree with you Grizz. I do think Manning stepped into that SS slot very nicely now that they finally stopped moving him around every year. I'd love to keep the guy but considering his breakout at safety this year and his top KR skills I believe somebody is gonna put a big fat offer in front of him and that he won't be in a Bears uni this coming season. Don't know that for a fact but intuitively that seems like the way it's gonna go.

I'm just happy for the guy. I've been both a supporter and a skeptic and I finally think everyone can see what Lovie and JA were talking about when they went to bat for him.

what happens with Manning is two fold
1. his price tag. We have a big problem on offense and because of bad drafting we have some holes to fill which dont come free
2. Is Tillman staying at cb or moving to safety

Tillman doesn't have the range to play safety, in my estimation. They need to load up the Brinks truck and sign Danieal Manning. He's that good, and could possibly become a Pro-Bowler in the future if he ever gets properly acquainted with the position.

Manning and Wright with Harris as a rotating guy/insurance?
if you ask me, we went from Struggling at Safety to being Stacked. We have 3 legitamate starters IMO.
