He looked fairly athletic in the BCS Championship Game and I was impressed with his playmaking but I haven't seen enough of him otherwise to go on any other impression but that one. I don't know why he wouldn't have the height though. He's about 6'2" isn't he and we've been playing a couple of 6'1" or 6'2" guys at SLB for the past two years.

I've yet to see him catch anyone with any kind of speed to the sideline and gets beat to the edge often. Also, he measured in at 6'1" even, and my point was that at least Hx2 had height to make up for his athleticism against TEs, Casey has neither.

Meaning the cheap teams, like how you paint the Bears, to spend even less than required?
Benji, when there was no cap last offseason, the Bears signed key free agents to fill needs. If you'll read what I said, the Bears were not cheap the past two offseasons, but now that there will be a new salary cap whenever they get this CBA hammered out, they will undoubted go back to relying almost strictly on the draft to build the team up. In my mind, you have to balance it out using both methods to be truly successful.

dagan, for the last decade the bears have spent UP TO THE CAP EACH YEAR.. you can't spend over the cap, or get fined andlose draft picks,, not sure your point or that the bears pr any of the other 31 teams can't overspend

Posting a scouting report which although complimentary still ranks him no better than a 4th round pick. Don't know much more than what I've seen but he seems like he could play SLB in our defense and play ST's while working behind Roach. If he could do no better than Hilly I'd still be happy with that for a guy who could play both SLB and MLB as Hilly did.

I wouldn't bet on that Dags. JA hasn't done that so far and in fact he's brought in quite a few starters through FA. Tait, Brown, Miller, Garza, Pisa, Hilly, Moose, Des, OMG, AA, Toe, Peppers, Roach etc. all drafted by others and brought in as FA's.
