Great point Soul. Usually the last year isn't counted until some time has passed. He's not the worst nor the best but after 10 years of doing it here you would think he would improve from average and "middle of the pack".

40% of our starters are from the last 5 years drafts? I don't think so. Try 30%(31.8 if you want to get technical) and some of those draft picks are starters by default because we have nothing worth starting that can outplay the rookies or 2nd year players. The kicker of some of those draft picks would not be starting on most teams. Only Forte and maybe Chris Williams would probably start on a different team. Hester would only be a special teams player along with Manning. Well maybe manning would be a starter but on a crappy team. Olsen would probably be a wr on a different team.

For you information, I do believe that Danieal Manning didn't allow a single touchdown thrown in his area of the field this past season. He's turned into a damn fine SS. We have one of, if not the best, pair of starting S in the NFC, and I only think that the Steelers and Ravens have better sets because of their Pro Bowlers.

And as said the last few years he has gotten better and if you also take into account we didn't have a 1 or 2 in 2010 or a 1 in 2009, it looks better, becuase that is where you percaentages are for finding top talent.

Saying he looks better because we didn't have those picks for him to bust doesnt really help his cause though DB. Everyone knows he is good with his middle and late round picks. The part where everyone bashes him is his constant misses on first round talent

last 5 years he hit on hester, manning, olsen, forte in the top of draft( first 2 rounds) to varying degrees, despending on your hate of all things bears and williams i'd put in the "incomplete" category but can be a hit if he starts all of 2011. His misses at top have been dan bauzin only... just saying somehow that one miss is the only thing talked about..and the "myth" of he fails at top of draft, more perception than reality.

I guess we have different opions of him because I don't think he is that great. I think Chris Harris is more of a stud because he can actually hit and lay out a player. I don't think Manning can or will.

Interesting praise for Angelo when Greg Gabriel is now gone. The one pick where they went against Gabriel's advice was to draft LeFevour instead of Starks, lol. That really should be the measure of Angelo for last year.
Angelo isn't the worst, but he isn't the best either and certainly doesn't deserve the praise of the article and the selective period of judgement (not to mention ignoring who was on staff).
Fact is that we still have Jerry, and I hope he hits the mark this year. Still, I remain hopeful AND skeptical.
