agreed, the first one when had the hamstring torn off the bone in 2006 bad enough, but when columbo rolled his knee and blew it out was the one that killed his career, never got over the 2nd or his quickness he had before back, which is tragic

Im sorry his downfall wasnt all injury related. His attitude after that new contract changed. He became one of the laziest people in the locker room. Injuries never stopped Urlacher to be in shape. There is a reason why Harris got suspended once a year and it had nothing to do with his injuries. It was his shit attitude after being financially set. And it was a damn shame cause he could have revolutionized the position

Even when he was not 100 percent in 2007 he still played better than most players but once he signed the big contract he got lazy and his heart to play hard was not there anymore. Remember he came in to training camp completly healthy yet his attitude was piss poor.

Good point Mo. I agree with 54 that the Bears will probably ask him to reduce his take in some way or another even though there are other DT's making more than that and just as if not more unproductive. The real bottom line is that he just hasn't provided enough to justify that kind of bonus before he even plays a down of 2011 football.
This is where we see if his attitude has truly changed. If the guy realizes the predicament the Bears are in with him and really wants to play for Lovie, who has been one of his biggest supporters and the main reason that he's still with the Bears, then he'll negotiate something that's fair for both him and the team. If it's all about $$$ and his ego then it's sayonara Tommie Harris and best of luck catching on with anyone else that will guaranteed you $3 mil upfront and a $2.3 mil salary.
Like Mo says, it is a shame because much like John Randle before him he could have revolutionized the position. In his prime no one played both the pass and the run better than Tommie Harris.

There were so many times he nearly almost took the hand off and teams were not running the ball on us. Now he only seemed to show up at the end of the year to try to convince management he still has it.

I notice that too and I wonder what that's all about. It's like he only wants to put out max effort when his backs against the wall. The fact that he still can do it sometimes like he played against Seattle is what's got to be frustrating to everybody. He's got become convinced that he's not getting himself anywhere by saving himself for key games or in the playoffs. That's all about attitude and not ability.
I'm sure scouts from other teams pick up on that as well. I'd be willing to bet that their thought process is that if he can't be motivated enough by the Bears success and by his "godfather" Lovie Smith what will he be like on their team. I see a guy whose ego is likely to be telling him that he shouldn't accept a pay cut and that he can do as well or better elsewhere. I think he's in for a surprise in that respect. He ain't what he used to be and we're not the only ones who know that.

What would it cost to cut Tommie this season?

I think he has a little more than $1.6 mil of amortization left of his signing bonus. Subtract that from his cap cost of $6.4 mil and we save about $4.8 in cap space if he has no more unamortized signing bonus remaining. I don't believe that he does but 54 would know for sure.

Disagree strongly an attitude fixes a torn off bone hamstring or a blown out knee. one has zero to do with the other

Yep, and w/o the injuries he probably would have had 3-4 more Probowls- but it is what it is- and s said do think they will mkae an lower offer nd will be up to tommie to decide what to do
