DB,
Did we EVER pay Collins $2'000'000.00?
I think you know where this is going.

Yes we did, but that can't change now.. i think you know where this is going..
you look forward not backward.. AT TIME, and MOST agreed in august we needed a back up QB.. maybe not collins, but most said a vet back up would be good.. that collins SUCKED and didn't work out in past now...

We had Hanie and LeFevour.
The situation was ended there.
The one that will always escape us was why Collins?
Bad mangement.

People here acting like Hanie is some great player at #2 is a joke. Let teams get film on him, take away what he likes, then see how great he is. I like him but I'm not too concerned whether he's the #2 QB here or not.

I don't think teams will need all that much of a look to evaluate him. Martz system is pretty well known and any QB who plays in it will be pretty predictable in my opinion. The guy made the same throws that Cutler makes in the Packers game and threw them well. Not saying he's the second coming or anything but from what I've seen of him in college and in the NFL the guy has the tools he needs to be a very good backup for us.
Every time he's been given a chance he's produced and to me that's what counts. I'm beginning to believe that Martz is like Buddy Ryan and just doesn't like inexperienced guys running his offense. That's why he begs for a vet and that's how we ended up with Collins. Let's hope we don't make that mistake again and that Hanie gets a fair shot at the #2 spot. He's earned it.

It should be noted that Hanie wasn't under nearly the same amount of pressure as Cutler tho. Even if Justwin is right, 800k for a 2nd round compensation, rather than having to match an offer with no compensation if we don't get him back is worth it.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your post Henry. We tendered him at the lowest level so if we don't match any higher offer he get we get no compensation at all. He joined the team as a undrafted FA.
