yeah we aren't going to agree, and using taylor almost as strictly a short yardage back in 2010, with a bad interior line, alot more for the WHY the low average than his ability ,IMO.. and on bell take out his first run and he's below 3 YPR also on all his other runs. I know you like bell, i'm just not sold anywhere near as much on him as you are, and as said taylor a PROVEN back with a solid rating from Am best and bell more the "fly-by night" insurance back with no rating from AM best..it may pay off, or when you need to cash the policy you get a "number disconnected"..We just are not going to agree on this one. : )

He did when given the chance shorty. Even that long run he cracked off on his first NFL carry was between the tackles. He's already shown himself to be a much better runner up the gut than Taylor.

I like Bell better than Taylor don't get me wrong Soul but I'm not going to use one long run two seasons ago as a metric for measuring between the tackles running.
Between a improved O-line Unga, Bell and Taylor we should finally have a better power game. I don't ever want to see the goal line futility that we've experienced last season.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.

He was almost strictly short yardage because he no longer has speed to make the corner so that's the calls he got. Forte made better yardage between the tackles behind the same line. Not a good enough reason.
Wrong on point #2 as well. Take away that 72 yard run and he has a 3.8 ypc average which is just about the same as Forte would have if we took away his long runs too. That was a guesstimate on your part I understand but not accurate. Besides even without that his 3.8 ypc is a hell of a lot better than Taylor's 2.4 ypc.
Your damn right I like him and the reason I do is because everything I've seen of the two so far tells me that Bell is the better back already despite his inexperience. I think I've watched enough football to intuitively recognize talent by now.
The only thing that Taylor has proven to me so far in his career as a Chicago Bears is that he isn't up to the job he's been paid to do.
I already know that we'll never agree on this one but don't believe that I think you're an a$$hole because of it, just in spite of it.
JUST KIDDING MAN!

Why would he get cut? You can't be serious Mike. If you look at his pathetic stats and ineffectiveness as Forte's back up you'd know the answer. You're the OC aren't you? The reason he's not gonna be cut is because you and JA get egg on your faces for this "mistake by the lake". Things like this only make me trust you even less and question your sanity.
i never got the impression that martz had, or has, much voice in personnel nor his coaching staff. this is probably the only team
in the nfl that hired an o-line coach before the OC...

Db54 are you in the financial industry too?
I wouldn't cut Taylor at his point. We need 3 backs anyway, and he's a cheap backup. I don't know that we could pick up anyone worth more than he is to the team.

If DeAngelo Williams were cheap, or Cadillac were guaranteed not to be hurt, i'd take either one over Taylor. As it stands, I really hope Unga and Bell are given a fair shot in TC this year. Bell reminds me of Toenia in that, he flashes brilliance when the position had been stagnant all year on a losing team, only to be shelved the next year for no good reason.

Thought so with your ins. Knowledge. I knew myself and Soul were, but didn't know you were too.
With Bells inexperience, I wouldn't want to get rid of Taylor, although Bell might get more into the mix this year. Taylor is a vet, and has a year in this system under his belt. I don't see any rookie or FA stepping in and being able to produce as well as what we have.
Hell, Forte had a bad year last year before this one, but everybody wants him signed to a big contract this upcoming year. Taylor has one bad year after many good ones, gets a major drop in pay and everyone wants him released.

They won't cut Taylor this year but they should find a different way to use him. He's not a power back period but I do admit that he still has quick feet and can be elusive in a closed in area. If he were to use that more on his inside runs he'd probably do much better.
Bell was tendered as an ERFA and of course Unga will be off IR this coming year so I think we'll see some competition during camp and in preseason. I'd really like to see tham keep Bell active this year and with some luck Unga might be that FB/Power Back we need. I'm not at all unhappy with the depth we have at the position but I still believe that Taylor's days are numbered.
