Define Evolution CHICAGO BEARS

Well back in the good old days we were a running first pass second kind of team.

Then everybody started passing circles around us and scoring TD's.

So we thought we better pass also.

After somthing like 23 QB's to match Favre...we brought in Cutler.

Hence : The Modern Age.

WHAT WE DID : final four...thats final four with no CAPS.

Because thats how good we are at that point in time...

Not SUPERBOWL CHAMPOINS...but good enough to be there.

Thein gentlemen lies the rock in your underwear while you drive to work...

it's there...you cant keep shifting in the seat to escape it.

That rock that bothers your ass while you try to drive.

WE WERE THAT GOOD!

It should be noted : that when DITKA lost to Frisco in the NFC Championship game...

he built a team to beat Frisco.

And in doing so... he won a SUPERBOWL!

Good thoughts jackie but you give Ditka far more credit than he deserves. Those 80's Bears team were built courtesy of the efforts of Jim Finks and Jerry Vainisi not Ditka. The best example of how he runs an personnel department is how he traded away his entire draft for Ricky Williams. Hooboy!!!!

Ditka got Fridge when Ryan called him a wasted draft pick.

The rest is history.

Vainisi drafted him and don't know how much input Ditka had in that. Hartenstine was retiring, Hampton was moving to LDE and we needed DT. Because of his weight he fell to us late in the first and became a folk hero but he was nowhere near being the main reason we won a Super-Bowl.

Theres the whole deal where Ditka got beat by Frisco because Walsh put a widebody into the game to beat us.

So Ditka got a widebody too to beat Frisco next year.

we didn't get beat because of a wide body, we got beat because montana Owned the bears and ditka( beats us 23-0 in the 1984 championship game).. and ditka was mad because AT THE END OF THE GAME WHEN IT WAS OUT OF REACH ALREADY, he put in guy mcintyre to block as they ran the clock out.. you have the story confused jackie...

BTW kind of funny seeing walsh line up the niners in the "wild cat" with solomon as the qb and montana as the WR back in 1984... guess it wasn't very original for the NFL in the 2000's.. : )

That was not the reason they drafted Perry. It was exactly as I said it was. The fact that Buddy Ryan wouldn't play him is what gave Ditka the idea to use him on offense just to show up Ryan. It worked because not only Perry start on D but Ditka also made him a national icon as a FB.

They didn't draft him just to beat SF, LOL.

agreed soul, they drafted perry because needed a DT,, and buddy being buddy, HATED all rookies( he wouldn't even call a player by their name until their sophmore year, just their number), and rided Perry in training camp about his weight, calling him a "bust" and "fatso", to in "buddy's way" of thinking it would inspire him.. it didn't and when played san fran, ditka threw him at end at the FB to 'get back" back walsh..
